WINNER ANNOUNCED - The Fifth Photographer's Lounge Salon Challenge–SELFIE

It was the word of the year last year and everyone is doing it. But not all selfies are created equal. Super extra credit for ingenuity and creativity and for capturing an aspect of yourself that lets the viewer in...

Let's run this through the 14th ok?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules are simple................

1. Either take a picture that matches the nominated theme or select one from your portfolio. You must be the photographer that created the picture in order to enter it.

2. Only one entry per salon, please. If you want to withdraw an entry and replace it with another, that is OK, but you must make it clear in the post containing your replacement picture that this is what you've done. You can add or change the title and add to the edit line to let everyone know.

3. The decision of the curator at the end of the challenge is final - don't give him/her a hard time about it: this is just a friendly photo challenge, after all!

5. The person who submitted the chosen picture will assume the responsibility of curator for the next Salon Challenge and as soon as possible post a message in a new thread in the PL Photo Challenges forum, with details of the new theme. Don't forget - that opening message must include a copy of these instructions, which also double as the rules.

6. The curator can't enter his or her own salon (that's me).

7. Please, don´t be shy...Participate and have fun!

Fisheye Selfie

I keep wanting to stop on every picture posted in this thread so far and say, Damn! Brilliant photo! - or Damn! unbelievably great image! - or just plain.... Damn!

And obvious kudos to John for coming up with a seemingly simple concept but actually a much more complex one when one starts to think about it, or 'on it', as some people say.

It's fun also to remember the words of the poet W.H. Auden, who said, a propos of self-portraits - “An honest self-portrait is extremely rare because a man who has reached the degree of self-consciousness presupposed by the desire to paint his own portrait has almost always also developed an ego-consciousness which paints himself painting himself, and introduces artificial highlights and dramatic shadows.”

And, true, that applies to painters and not photographers, but there's still some relevance.

Here's my entry - taken with my Rokinon fisheye lens -

Just to be clear Luke, by "thanking" you for your post, I am recognizing the subject and composition, not agreeing with the poster's comment.

Wait a minute Luke! Either you've an exceptionally long timer on your camera and very quick on your feet or someone else took this (which according to Hoyle, would technically not be a "selfie") Oh please tell us you were just fast on your feet! :big grin:
