Pentax My first Pentax limited lens

Regular
I managed to find a 35mm 2.8 macro limited on ebay for £210 which seemed like a really good price compared to new. Arrived home last night and it was waiting for me. The build is as good as I read, down to the metal lens cap with a velvet lining. Anyway, optically it seems fantastic, a step up on anything I have used before, though the model helps in this case. I fear using this lens is just going to encourage me to buy more limiteds. I am really hoping for some interesting news from Pentax in February, replacement for K3 or Full Frame perhaps?

Ironically, that's the only one I haven't owned! Always liked the idea but never found a price at the right time.
Limted lenses are addicting though, that's certain! (y)

A replacement for a camera that is less than one year old??

By far my favourite lens when I was shooting Pentax and still one of my most fondly remembered today.

Don't hope too hard for a Pentax FF though, because the DA Ltd 35mm won't work methinks!
All the cheap legacy glass will still be good though :)

Well it would be good to at least see something as good as the NX1 sensor. Yearly upgrades don't seem that unreasonable.

I think they will go FF though in Feb. The price of the Nikon 610 is really bridging the gap to top end APS-C which must force Pentax's hand finally.

The K-3 was announced in October 2013. The rumors have a replacement being announced sometime in the first quarter of the new year. I'm betting the replacement goes on sale 18 months after the K-3 did, which would be the general schedule for release of Pentax's digital SLRs. There was a longer period between the K-5 and K-3 (with the K-5 II and IIs tossed in between) largely due to the purchase of Pentax by Ricoh.

Unreasonable? Not sure. Excessive? Probably, particularly for a camera in this class.

When all is said and done I don't think that the NX1 sensor is going to all that much of a step forward. It has a few more pixels, it might gain a few percentage points in dynamic range and maybe display a little less noise but I doubt whether it will make all that much difference where it matters.

I love my 35mm DA Ltd. It was the first Pentax prime I bought. I have a DA15 as well and for a while had the FA43 but we didnt bond at all. I also got a K55 off gumtree, excellent lens, that. No pancakes though. Wonder why I never did. Maybe I should add a DA70 or FA77 :)
