Animals Poor lizard

Lizard got in our house and stuck to a sticky bug mat under the fridge. Poor thing was trying to get unstuck.

is it ironic that in trying to catch the bugs, you caught the things that is supposed to catch the bugs?

I hope you were able to extricate him. Or are these lizards considered pests by you?

Let's hope he doesn't have a lawyer.

So true.

Lizards are awesome, I had a few as a kid.

Unfortunately in its efforts to extricate itself, damage was done. It was not going to survive, so I took steps to end its suffering.

I would have preferred to remove it without harm.

A damn shame he had to make the ultimate sacrifice to allow you to get this fine photo, but it would be REAL tough to get him holding this still otherwise. Oh well, he got himself into that mess - you tried to help and ultimately did the right thing under the circumstances. Bummer though. He looks kind of scared in the photo, but I'm probably just projecting that since I know what was going on and know the final outcome...

When I was taking its picture, it was holding real still, its eye focused on me.

As soon as I back off a few paces it was back to squirming and trying to release itself.

I have not ended a creature's life, (other than random small bugs), since I had to aid my Dad in removing a chicken's head when I was a kid.

Our baby boomer generation were much closer to the cycle of life and death. I occasionally find a small skink or two who have climbed into a flower pot and can't get out again.
