Well I finally did it. Just ordered a new LX100 through the GreenToe site. I've purchased a few things through them so far and on the LX100 I got pretty close to their home page propaganda, "up to 20% off". Should be here tomorrow.

:dance4:

Well snapped a quick shot, need to work on AF point but...

Well the LX7 didn't last long I'm afraid. I took it out on a (rare) sunny day and couldn't see a darn thing on the screen, even turned up to the max brightness. Plus the images weren't a vast improvement, to my eyes anyway, on my TZ60 - a camera that seems to punch above its weight. It was pleasant to use, though, screen issues notwithstanding. Anyway I've sold that and have now ordered an LX100... really looking forward to it!

Enjoying this new toy a lot so far. I like the overall feel and the controls, and I've got used to the EVF now. The MF display is great. Only downside is that the zoom is perhaps a little slow. I can see I need to spend some time working out custom control sets to get the best out of it.

Doesn't the camera allow step-zoom on the lens barrel?

I'll be looking to you for tips and tricks, then, Martin! I've got one on the way from the same place I bought my FZ1000. Should arrive early next week, or late this week :)

Yes, but it doesn't move instantly from one FL to the next. There's still a fairly leisurely progression. At least there's no danger of overshooting the FL you want to get to :)

I see now - purely electronic, just in steps instead of infinite. That's what I miss about the Leica X Vario - the quick twist on the lens barrel.

OK then, for starters I have set up 3 custom settings, the essential features being:
1 -JPEG only, iZoom on
2 - JPEG only, iZoom, 6mp files, Ex Zoom
3 - RAW only, spot metering
So I have 24-150mm on the first setting, 24-210 on the second (albeit small files, to be used for emergencies!), and normal RAW with spot metering on the third.
All of them have the Fn3 button set to choose a custom set, and Fn1 is shadow/highlights on the first two.
The 2 JPEG settings also have a custom photo style, basically Standard with NR -3 and Sharpness +1. With that setting I find that the JPEGS come out really nicely and I have struggled to get a RAW conversion to match them.

I got one about three weeks ago. Not had a chance to use it other than a few test shots. It's RAW files didn't work with Lightroom 4 but the jpegs looked fine out of the camera to my eyes.

I'm using Lightroom CC and it accepts the RAW files OK but as I mentioned to Sue, I can't figure out how to get them looking as crisp as the JPEGs, which also have plenty of latitude for processing. Maybe someone has published LX100 presets or profiles, I'll hunt around the interweb.
