Last weekend my wife and I drove up north to visit my wife's family. My father-in-law had a bounty of apples that needed to be picked before the coming freeze. I told him that I'd be happy to relieve him of a couple dozen. He handed me his apple picker tool and my wife grabbed this action shot with her phone. (my crop and processing)

These aren't your fancy store-bought polished apples. They look bruised and gross, but were actually crisp and a great mix of tart and sweet.....actually much sweeter than any "wild" apple I've eaten straight from a tree before. Good "eating" apples.....I wouldn't "waste" these making apple sauce or pies normally, but there's just so many.

I followed the recipe here...... Classic Slow-Cooker Apple Crisp and 3 hours later, the aroma of cooking apples, cinnamon and brown sugar and oats permeated the house, I knew it was time. Let's see how it looks.

I quickly ran to the grocery store to buy some vanilla ice cream. The ice cream makes it. If you're in the neighborhood, we've got a few servings left.
