Ricoh GRD IV Sample Images

Your right. Stunning quality... I actually like the white version....
Another week or so and you'll be in business.
It's nice that you can process the raw files right away.
Good luck.....

Oh Lordy!! There was I set to purchase the Fuji X10 and then I go and look at the GRD4 images........

Bugger! Now what am I going to do?? Those images (and the ones from the GRD3) look like they have been taken by a 5D Mk2 with a decent prime.

Hmm, I would recommend a lie down in a quiet, dark room, and then some time spent looking at images from a 5DII  These look very "Ricoh" to me, and I mean that in a (very) good way.

This GRD4 is one hell of a camera!! The GRD3 is superb but the 4 is just that bit better in the IQ dept. It's ability to resolve detail is pretty stunning. Thanks for the like. You don't need to read Taiwanese to see how good the camera is.

This comparison review is excellently executed. The difference in IQ is bigger than what I expected it to be. Already at iso 100 the GRDIV looks clearly better and iso 800 looks very usable. 1600 and 3200 will be fine for B&W. Will be difficult to resist this upgrade. We start to see amazing quality from small sensor cameras.

GRD IV samples do look very impressive, :D maybe i should've waited for it instead of getting the III haha

it now gives me more reason to get the GV-2 viewfinder as I think I will get the GRD IV when my III dies later. I am so loving the GRDs!

There are some very nice images turning up. But I can't say I'm seeing that much difference between the 3 and 4 in the images. The exception being that a lot of the low light shots are still being done at very low ISOs and resulting slower shutter speeds, but still coming up pretty sharp except for motion. So maybe the IS is making a big difference on a lot of these. But for most decent light shots, they look pretty similarly great to the GRD3 to my limited eye....

Some Ricoh GRD IV street photography samples @ invisiblephotographer.asia.

We already know how great the whole GRD line is for street photography - I wouldn't expect the GRD4 to be any LESS good! The question is whether its noticeably better than the 3? I think if you use AF a lot, it would be. I like the look of those bleach bypass shots, but like most built in filters, I suspect I'd use it a lot for about a week and then go back to shooting raw and going for my own effects in PP. Looks like a fine addition to the GRD line, but I'm having trouble finding any compelling reason to upgrade from the 3, at least for the way I tend to use the camera, which is largely with the snap focus mode.

I'd have to agree, Ray. I think the only thing I would really be keen on is the IS and faster AF. I've been really happy with the quality (even of jpg) coming out of the gRD3, but I like having IS... my hands do get tremulous at times and without a vf to help stabilise, i'm often getting rid of more than I keep. Generally, though, on looking at the results on the web, theres not much between them, really.

I think I will end up buying the IV. I think theres going to be a sue's camera sale on pretty soon, because I really cannot justify having all these cameras at once.

[edit] on the other hand, the GRD IV is now on sale at our cheap discounter house in Oz (not the cheapest, but also not grey stock) for $779 for the black and $849 for the white. I think I'll wait for some time til the prices fall a bit. X10 is on for preorder at the same place for $649. All AUD of course but still too rich for my pensioned off blood. I'll be waiting, or selling, or both.
