Micro 4/3 Seriously thinking of buying an OM-D EM-5

Hello all,

I am new to micro four thirds but after reading review of the OMD EM5 at dpreview.com and that it is considered the best micro four thirds camera ever at cscrumors.com I got more and more interested purchasing one.

Store selling them in Oslo has them now sold out but they expect to receive more stock in 2-3 weeks time.

While I think of decision to buy one (black color body) could you share with me your experience with it? What do you like more and less on the OMD so far?

Thanks.

Hi,

To avoid repeating too much information I'll point you towards this thread for some heavier reading:

The E-M5 is a significant step for Olympus. For me the two best features are the new sensor and the extremely effective new IBIS system, but looked at as a whole the E-M5 is just a polished package that does a lot of things right. If anything it has exceeded my expectations. It isn't a cheap camera, but for what you get I still feel that it is good value. Good luck with your decision.

I already owned some of the great m4/3 lenses, but I really thought I was going to pass on the OM-D and wait for the updated PENs. I am glad my willpower failed and I purchased the E-M5 - it is a great little camera. I was shooting a bit more with APS-C lately, but, for me, I think the E-M5 does enough right that it will be my main system again. The Olympus 12/2 is just crazy good on the camera. I am thinking that the E-M5, with the great m4/3 primes, and then a fixed lens APS-C like the X100 or X2, would be a great kit. :D

Such decisions, in my experience at any rate, aren't so much about thought as the intensity of feelings emanating from the heart.

Why did you have to bring this up, Xuereb?! I was just looking at the film camera thread here and my heart is telling me to buy a 35mm film body. :D

Woohoo, I do have an OMD now!!

The camera is smaller than I thought. The OMD feels smaller in my hands than the EP2/3. It looks bigger though, b/c of the hump.

Congratulations, Armando!! Look forward to reading your impressions and seeing some shots. Did you get silver or black?

LOL you could not resist .. YES! it is small but feels solid add the grip and you look like a Pro :D

Enjoy :)

No you'll have no excuse for second rate bird photos.....wow....those are nice. One day, I'd love to capture an owl photo in the wild. That would seriously make my day.....especially if it looked like that.

I am with ya, man... would love to grab an owl image. Dream shot would be snowy owl in a winter forest scene. Hmmmm... wonder if I can get close enough with my 45mm.
