Fuji White orbs - X100 - late last night

Who can see the white orbs. Seems like the X10 may not be alone in this issue. I havent shot anything directly at street lights like this before, most have been distant lights, or light sources which have been hidden, although the light they cast was visible. I shot a few last night, I've only just looked at them, and in every shot which wasnt over-exposed, and the light source directly visible, I got this.

Guess I wont be doing a lot of this kind of shooting with the X100, in future. All I was doing was playing with it :( The result was somewhat unexpected. No... let me correct that... a LOT unexpected.

That doesn't look like the white orbs you'd get with the X10. Those had super hard edges and were notably larger than the light source itself. Literally like someone took a hole-punch to the photograph. Only the large street light in this shot comes close to that and its hard to tell how much larger it is than the light source itself... But given the glow around the light and the slight starburst of rays coming off of it, its very different than the classic X10 white orb, which was just a totally un-natural phenomenon. This doesn't look much different than a classically blown highlight to me. How much larger is the "orb" than the actual source of the light in this???
