Fuji Another X-10 Oops

Just got an e-mail from the Fuji US repair center: they want me to send back my X10 because they MAY have skipped a step in the sensor replacement procedure! So one week before I go on vacation, I find out I'm going to lose the camera that I was going to rely on as a walkabout. :)

Definitely trying my patience. But I still believe they're a top-notch organization for addressing their issues openly and arranging to make things right.

Sorry to hear about the troubles. My past experience with Fujifilm service is that they aren't always the fastest but they usually do right by their customers.

I know I'm in a VERY small minority of X10 owners who have this attitude, but I'm perfectly fine with my camera the way it is (orb-prone sensor and all). I know I should probably send it in just to preserve resale/trade-in value but I like the X10 so much I'll probably keep using it until it breaks.

Believe it or not, this Texan - with spouse, children and grandchildren in tow - is heading for the New Jersey shore! Will be on the beach in the town where the first photos of me (yes, black-and-white) were taken by my parents when I was five months old. That was shortly after the end of WWII....

I may keep the camera until after the trip. There's also a chance they may be able to round-trip it next week; we'll see. I do have another camera as backup...:D

I've been to the Jersey shore for work but never for vacation. I bet you'll have a great time! Regardless of what camera you use, I hope you take tons of photos and post at least a few here.

Ahh yeah, LOVE the Jersey shore. I don't think people in most parts of the country realize how nice it is - it just sounds like "Joisey" or they think of the TV show with Snookie and those cartoons - I think Wildwood can be like that but most parts of the shore are really quite nice. We go to Long Beach Island for at least a couple of weeks every year, more when we can swing it. Spent three weeks there last month and my wife and I are going back for a few days around our anniversary in August. Its really quite beautiful and fairly quiet except for a few particularly busy weekends each summer. My wife grew up going to the Jersey Shore and I grew up out west so I had no idea about it. The first time we came east in the summer and had some flexibility in our schedule, she said, "oh cool, we can go to the Jersey Shore for a few days", to which I replied, "why would we want to do THAT"? I had no idea. I think that was 1990 - we moved back here two years later and we've been back to the Shore every summer since.

Chuck, where do you folks go?

We go to a quiet little town south of Atlantic City called Ocean City. It would be very boring for the young crowd: it's a dry town and the boardwalk is very family-oriented. For total relaxation, it can't be beat. Plus we get to enjoy some of the culinary treats we rarely see in Texas: cheese steaks, hoagies, TastyCakes, frozen custard, good pizza - oh, yeah! And the beaches are nice, wildlife refuges are nearby, great old houses in Cape May an hour south...

Maybe I should go to work for the NJ Office of Tourism!

You could just drop it off while you are in NJ.
