Fuji X100 Goes Motorcycle Camping in Vermont

Rode 4 hours to the Vermont woods Friday, carrying tents/bags/pads for some cyclist friends. I staked out a good spot Friday so that when they arrived Saturday all would be ready for them. Weather didn't cooperate much, it was incredibly cold Friday night (22F / -6C) and cloudy a lot but I did what I could with the X100 to pass the time til they showed up. I can now say the camera works at those temps just fine.

25 second exposure, f5.6 to get the corners sharper, ISO 3200, shooting straight up with the camera balanced on the motorcycle luggage on the ground by the fire. The red light made this evergreen tree look like an oak.

Lens flare from the fire... I wouldn't have thought it.

Very nice. I LOVE that shot of the stars and the tree, ostensibly lit by the fire? Just gorgeous!

Yep, just the fire light. I was alone and bored, so I would stoke the fire to get it brighter, run over, set up a shot, take off my gloves (unhappily), and shoot. Then I'd review, tweak, and repeat.
