I sent Pete a message letting him know we are awaiting his presence. I'm pretty busy this weekend, but if he hasn't checked back in by Monday, I'll fill in for him while he's traveling through the wild internetless regions of Down Under

Not certain if this qualifies as an example of incongruous juxtaposition - but to me, the notion of a real physical car (yes, an automobile) sticking out of a real physical building .... has more than a little of surreal juxtaposition.

There's a garage along a favorite motorcycle route that looks just like this except it's a whole car. The owner has erected a small fairing to cover the rear end.

Since Pete seems to be "off the grid", I have added a poll. It will run for three days, so feel free to cast a vote for whichever one you think is "best" using your own criteria....whether that means it fits the theme best or if it just makes you smile. There's no right or wrong, just pick your favorite. And hopefully Pete will be back soon.

Cmon folks, let's get some more votes for Miguel and others. I only entered that photo of Pete "pissing" as a joke - it would not be right for it to win, place, or show!

Hell and damn and I am both stunned and honored to receive votes from perhaps the most wonderful motley crew (or is it crüe?) of photographers and photographic image-makers around. I loved too many of the other photographs to honestly even dare to vote but I think every one of us who entered a photo in this challenge deserves the kind of serious props that come after repeated viewings (and also possibly a small glass of the 'good stuff', an indispensable element in many curatorial deliberations, from what I've heard).

And, yeah....think of what I could have done with a whole car!

I will put my few remaining cells to work on coming up with a worthy new challenge - and in the meanwhile congratulations to each and every one of the entrants, as well as to Pete for coming up with not merely a thoughtful and inspiring subject, incongruous juxtaposition...but also one that really made me think.

Miguel

As an addendum to Steve's comment ("Imagine what you could do with a whole car"), I am attaching this sculpture, done in Denver, Colorado, a few years ago by a friend of mine, the Guadalajara-based sculptor and artist, Gonzalo Lebrija - the piece is "History of Suspended Time" and as you can see, Gonzalo used a whole car.... (serious grin).

Congrats Miguel, I really enjoyed that image. And thanks Luke and Pete for moderating and coming up with the theme!

Hope Pete will be back on SC soon (I see he's been busy uploading photos to flickr recently)!
