WAYMARKING: Little Creatures by Andrew Priest (Aushiker), on Flickr

Little Creatures, Fremantle - Brewpub. This photograph continues my social history project documenting both the mundane and the interesting in the City of Fremantle and surrounding areas through the medium of Waymarking. It is also the first is a new challenge for myself of urban fragments loosely based on the work of e6 vlogs. This first theme is "curves."

Little Creatures is an Australian brewing company based in Fremantle, Western Australia, originally established in 2000 by the original brewers of the Matilda Bay Brewing Company. The name "Little Creatures" is inspired by a song lyric from the Talking Heads Little Creatures album and refers to the live yeast cells that turn the sugars in malt wort into ethanol.

The brewery building, was originally constructed to house the Taskforce '87 yachts (Kookaburra) participating in the 1987 America's Cup and subsequently as a crocodile farm before being converted to its current use.

W.S.D. Building, The Esplanade [Tower] - Dated Buildings and Cornerstones by Andrew Priest (Aushiker), on Flickr

This photograph continues my social history project documenting both the mundane and the interesting in the City of Fremantle and surrounding areas through the medium of Waymarking.

The W.S.D. Building [I am assuming this stands for Water and Sewage Department] appears to have been a pumping station. There are at least two other stations to the north and south of this one which of a similar structure.

Curiously the other two stations are heritage listed but this one isn't so it is hard to get any further details on it other than it was built in 1913 and is today used at least in part as a public toilet on The Esplanade.
