a couple weeks back my wife and I drove up north for a family wedding. We also had one afternoon free to drink in the beauty of the north woods of Wisconsin before we had to come back to reality and life in the city.
Here's Darby, my father-in-law's new dog and hunting buddy. She's a real beauty (and a pretty rare breed over here), a Wachtelhund......she likes to chase the birds.

some cloud reflections ........

Michael asked why I was taking a photo....I said, "the reflections are cool". He decided he wanted to shoot 'em, too.

on the way back home, Michael spotted a Grouse and he and Darby got out to investigate while we sat in the truck and waited. The grouse got away so I was happy. Darby was really fired up when she got back in the truck.

back at "home" this is the view from my father-in-law's back yard on Lake Emily....I wish this place wasn't 4 hours from my house.

it was VERY still the morning we prepared to leave. So I walked out onto the dock and shot this one slightly underexposed so that the colors would be rich. I may work on a different crop and process it a a bit to make a print of this. I don't have any photos hung up.

or I may do this one instead.....it's slightly less cliche.

while I was shooting the reflection shot above, a silent canoeist paddled by in his pajamas. We exchanged pleasantries about how perfect the day was and wouldn't it be nice to have 365 days like this. As he passed, I liked his silhouette and captured this one. If the Wisconsin Tourism Board wants to buy it, I'll take their money.

The dogs really enjoyed the change of scenery and hanging out in the sunshine....

On the ride home, they were so tired out they just slept on each other (with their seat belts on, of course).

I hope you enjoyed the fresh Wisconsin (and upper peninsula of Michigan) air.
