Beautiful afternoon in Scott Depot, WV today. Still a surprising amount of colorful foliage hanging around with just 7 days until Thanksgiving. American Beech and Sweetgum typically hold onto their leaves well into December, but it is very unusual for Red Maple to have any leaves this late, much less ones still showing green and red.

That looks like some glorious autumn weather, and nice to see some colour, too. We have an autumn storm passing over right now, so any colour that was still on the trees, is bound to be gone by tomorrow...

We are well past peak, but we still have a lot of trees along the ridge tops that are holding good color, mainly Oaks, although I surprisingly saw a couple of Maples today still with most of their leaves. I saw quite a bit of bronze, scarlet, orange, and russet gleaming in the sun today. We've had a strange Autumn.

Reviving my old thread to show that 2020 just keeps on giving. Much of these are from the huge Oak tree that is towering above me and just to the right of this image. Fortunately the hill below our house is part of our property, so I just shove the leaves down into the woods and be done with it. The rake works pretty effectively if I flip the tines over and shove the leaves along the ground like I'm curling. Moves a lot of leaves in a hurry. Just need a couple of sweepers to help with the leaves that are stragglers afterward.
