The pictures below are of my sister's dog Cleo. I've posted them here before and some of you were kind about the monochrome one with her toy zebra. We looked after Cleo when my sister and her family were on holiday and it was always a highlight of the year for me. Yesterday morning at about this time we took her for what was to be her last walk before my sister's family came to collect her in the afternoon. We took her to some local woods where we immediately became separated. This sometimes happened - she would disappear for a couple of minutes and then reappear. We shouted and searched for hours and then we were joined by my sister's family, freshly back from their trip. Another hour or two of searching and then I got a call from a kind man who had spotted her injured by the side of the road - apparently run over. We don't know if she left the woods soon after we split up and had been injured for some time. It's equally possible that after we spread out to search for her she tried to make her way home across a busy road.

We took her to the vets and she was later transferred to a specialist pet hospital. She died of her injuries in the night.

We are in pieces and I'm typing all this because I don't know what else to do right now. She was a lovely little dog and she was only four.

This time yesterday she was a happy and healthy little girl and she looked like this.

What a terrible thing to happen to you....all of you. I am sure you must feel absolutely awful. I am so sorry.

Star Trek Beagle - not really a 'red shirt' I hope...

Garry, I really love the way you play with / use perspective. It's just recently that I've started to give it consideration. It really gives the photo a different meaning (or feeling). Of course, Buster is always the star. You're lucky to have such a handsome and willing muse.
