    Cooeee from Australia

Hi Mark, Welcome back, remember you running the SiJ few years ago. I'm not very active posting here myself. I also have the X100T and recently picked up the X70. Once they release the WCL-X70 I'll have 21, 28, 35 and 50 (with TCL-X100) in a small compact setup. That would be all I need for now...

Fuji Fuji X-70 - First and (maybe NOT!) Last Impressions

Nice Ray, I really like the purple hair shot. Took a walk around Exeter, NH with the X70. I think the lens delivers better results than the X100T with the WCL converter. Ice cream in February: And then the sun came out to add some color: -Thomas

Fuji Fuji X-70 - First and (maybe NOT!) Last Impressions

I just got my X70 and so far so good, haven't found a deal breaking issue yet. I tried the WCL X100 just to see how that would work. So, quite a bit of vignetting, I think I'll wait for the dedicated X70 wide converter. To keep a slim profile I tried a 49mm female-female filter adapter and...

Fuji Fuji X-70 - First and (maybe NOT!) Last Impressions

Ray, thanks for sharing your experience with the X70, always enlightening, sometimes relevant to my use :). I have an X100T that I love using, so looking forward to trying the X70 out. I don't need custom settings or a mode dial, so I actually prefer the Fuji dials. As for the distance set when...

    Fuji Fuji X70

Yes, Fuji, please include this in the next FW update. Although when I had the GR for a while I didn't turn off the screen since I felt I needed the screen to see whenever I changed some settings. That's not necessary with the X70 since the important settings are on the dials, always visible...

    Leica Multiple Leicas?

Since the M3 lacks the 35mm frame lines you would have to use an add-on finder or get a 35mm lens with "goggles". The M2 or M4 might be a better choice if you want to get an earlier Leica and still use your 35mm lens. If you buy used, you can always try it out for a while and then sell the...

Nikon Coolpix A Refurb: Couldn't Resist

Double-check that you don't have the focus switch in macro mode, that seemed to slow regular distance focusing. I set mine up to focus with the Fn1 button, that way I didn't have to wait for focus on each shot. Since mine is broken now, I have a pair of batteries and a charger sitting around...

Film Lens and purchasing advice for Nikon FM2/n

I think you would be happy with an FM2n and a 50mm 1.8 lens to start with. A 35mm AIS or even the 35mm AF lens would work too. I liked the 35mm f2.0 AF since it's light weight and focuses really close. If you would like a nice compact zoom lens the AIS 28~50/3.5 lens is pretty light weight and...

    Ricoh New GR Apparently

What are the other ones? AFAIK the Coolpix A is discontinued so it can no longer be considered "on the market". Not aware of any other pocketable APS-C sensor cameras. I like the X100T, but it's not in the same league when it comes to fitting in a pocket.

Film Metering for color negative film

I absolutely agree with this. It is all about personal preferences and you have to test and determine for yourself what is "best" for you. And like you say, scanning introduces a whole other layer on top of the exposure and film processing. -Thomas

Film Metering for color negative film

A lot of people I've talked to recommend exposing Tri-X at 320, and I heard this well before we had the internet and web "experts". So, it's not a new thing. Box speed is just a starting point IMO. When I used Kodachrome 64 I always exposed it at EI80 instead of the box speed of 64 just because...

Film Is anyone here shooting exclusively film?

I think the question you'd have to answer is "If I lost this camera/lens, would I replace it?" If the answer is no, then there is a candidate for the for sale add. I used this technique recently and pared down my digital kit. So now I use a Fuji X100T and a Sony RX100II, both of these I would...

Film Metering for color negative film

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. Are you looking for the absolute best IQ out of your film or are you shooting to capture a moment? Film Nikon FE - is this a problem ?

Yes, the FE has that little button you can push to flip the tab out of the way, but you'd have to meter stopped down in manual mode then.
  47. trisberg

Film Nikon FE - is this a problem ?

I believe the tab is used for the body to know the relative aperture you are using on the lens. If it's off by a step or so you might not notice it but if it is off by several steps you would. It should rest against the AI coupling ridge on the lens and follow along when you change aperture.
