    Canon Showcase EOS M Images

^^^ Totally agree. Seems it's popular now to relegate "art" to the background, and every discussion becomes an engineering discourse. I have lots of great cameras, but I'm thinking about just taking the EOS M and 22mm when I go to Paris with my family this month. I'm not sure I want to drag a...

I think I'm bored with mirrorless systems

We've all been there. Focus on a topic to shoot, and then make a few prints. You'll remember why photography is so appealing, regardless of the gear used.

Canon Stupidly perhaps, I'm going to try the EOS-M

I can see the controls during the day on the back LCD, but the higher-contrast the scene, the harder it is to see the exact framing details. I'd be concerned I'd miss focus because I touched something in the foreground instead of the background, and vice versa. I disabled the touch screen for...

Canon Stupidly perhaps, I'm going to try the EOS-M

I'm not letting any of the online reviews and sites convince me I can't make reasonable images from the EOS M...even with the AF speed "limitiations." It shoots like a compact camera...a good one. I've had mine a week, and just got back from Boston, Mass., and shot it like a street-shooting...

Canon Stupidly perhaps, I'm going to try the EOS-M

I'm sure it would be expensive. Hopefully, they'll consider a 35mm field of view as opposed to 28mm. 28 is nice, but it's not as good as a general lens (more limited, I think). At least there's the EOS M and 22... :) Sent from my iPhone using SeriousCompacts mobile app

Canon Stupidly perhaps, I'm going to try the EOS-M

The one thing that people don't really seem to compare is DoF characteristics between an APS-C sensor with an f2 aperture, and smaller (faster, cleaner, more modern) sensors. The EOS M gives a big-camera image in a small body. In my mind (and in the image) the EOS M is a "compact" camera with...

    Sony RX100, Anders Petersen-style

I'm still getting into my comfort zone with expressing myself with compact cameras. Anders Petersen shoots a Contax T3, and my own sits on a shelf as I look at hanging rolls of film to cut, sleeve, contact, and edit. So the Sony RX100 is taking up the slack. I think it's working out. Rio de...

Fuji Fuji X-Pro 1 Trip report

Thank you both. Ray, I don't have these shots on my Tumblr site yet (but I have Rio shots from another visit)...try David Manning and thanks. Gary, I felt the shot of the Christ had kind of a "backstage" feel :) I've seen similar Pope images I found interesting.

Fuji Fuji X-Pro 1 Trip report

I hiked Morro Dois Irmãos in Rio de Janeiro today with the X-Pro 1 and the 35/1.4. My hiking partner carried an M8. The XP1 handled the heat and humidity like a champ (even my sweaty hands). It was far lighter than any SLR rig I've used. It's shutter was quieter than the Leica. A very nice...

    Fuji fuji full frame?

I think Fuji is committed to APS-C. If they went FF, their entire "new" line of XF mount lenses would vignette. Think of the XF lenses like DX for Nikon...made for a smaller imaging circle. I think it's extremely unlikely from a business sense that Fuji would do that. X-Trans APS-C is...

Fuji X100 in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the feedback. I wrestle with bouts of photographic insecurity all the time. Fuji Strange exposure variations since firmware 1.13 update???

Well, after I removed and restored the battery, seems like it solved it's own problem. Weird trons? Also, I notice better AF in low light too...and maybe closer OVF focus? (maybe my imagination...I don't know). Anyway, thanks for the input and feedback.

Fuji Strange exposure variations since firmware 1.13 update???

Thanks for the ideas. I'm wondering if something was changed DEEP in the system, since the firmware reverted all settings and menus to "original state." I checked, and I'm on 100% DR, not auto, so that's not the problem.

Fuji Strange exposure variations since firmware 1.13 update???

For the past couple of days (since I've updated the firmware to 1.13) I've been having inconsistent exposures. Every couple of shots will be very underexposed, and the difference is in shutter speed (not aperture, which is overexposed when it gets the dreaded sticky situation). Whereas the...

    Fuji X100 in Santiago, Chile

Thanks guys. I got a bit sunburned walking in the city. It was a nice respite from the winter though. Yes, all the mountains are the Andes range. Chile averages 100 miles wide, but is several thousand miles long. What a neat place to visit.

Fuji A few more from Madrid...

Thanks! I'm enjoying the X100 quite a lot. I actually used the EVF instead of the OVF on the waiter shot because he was so close. You can't do that with an M!
