    Ricoh GRD bokeh!

BTW I love Philly-- lived there back in the 80's and still have friends there-- and I know it must be great for street shooting

    Ricoh GRD bokeh!

thanks all! That's my Toyger (yes it is an actual breed, somewhat related to Bengals), Tony, watching... well, who knows what exactly it is that cats watch? Believe me the scene out my front window is nicer out of focus so you only see the nice colours of the cars and not the boring 50's...

Ricoh some GRD1 shots from today

I think the beam coming down out of the flying saucer has something to do with it... my cold drags on, though I swear I was not feverish it seems my camera was feverish yesterday ;-)

    Ricoh My new GRD 1

Nikki the images look great... yeah, it does take some getting used to that WIDE angle and the closeness needed, but the GR-D1 then gives such satisfying images when you give it the chance. Enjoy! I am loving mine.

What's max. allowed speed at your place?

speed limit? what does that mean? I think I saw some signs about that somewhere, but in Rome and anywhere in Italy further South, such silly things are ignored, along with no-parking zones, pedestrian crossings, etc. Also, the cars they sell here do not seem to come with turn signals. Can you...

Show "Look through your home front window"

@BB-- yeah, we live in a pretty ordinary neighbourhood of apartment blocks and shops mostly built in the 1950's. It is a very "livable" area, but not very decorative. The neon lights at least give me something to take test pics of at night, and there is always traffic for moving bus photos or...

Ricoh Just bought GRD1 ,- am I insane!!!

correction-- I think I have only one thread with pics here, but others on ricohforum.com and pics on mu43.com in the street thread.. BTW, I think it is doing great as a street shooter-- people must see it and think it is something out of Barbie's lunch box and don't take it seriously; I get far...

Ricoh Just bought GRD1 ,- am I insane!!!

I got one just last week I guess from the same place on EBay (it is limited edition number 745/1000), and I love it... you can see several threads with my first pics. I like the out-of-camera jpegs and they write fast enough on a not-particularly-fast 2gb SD card. I guess I will only use raw for...

    Ricoh I need help . . . . Ricoh GR D ??? !!! = $$$

+1 on the GRD-1 Blue Fairy model recommendation-- I just got one and I love it; sure it has fewer features, but I like the out-of-camera film-like quality of the pics (especially B/W) better than what I have seen from the later models... and the price was so good, for new old stock with...

wish I could say I never had a problem in India, but I was there long enough on business that I did manage to get sick a few times anyway... loved it anyway... and great to see pics from there-- also nice to see YOU in a picture which we hardly ever do and I LOVE the pic of the guys in Rome-- I...

    Hi, I'm new from Rome

Hi Andy! I am also new to this forum (though active on sister site mu43 for some time); I also live in Rome, so Hello Neighbour! and, oddly enough, the Pentax MX was my first serious camera, oh so many years ago.

    Ricoh Some GRD1 Street Shots

I saw only a GRD3 Street thread, so starting one for GRD1, if anyone cares to add. These are from my first day, so I did not fiddle with settings much-- P mode and Snap for B/W or SPot focus for Colour-- no PP other than some cropping. I will try not to put too many-- anyone wants to see more...

    Hi From Rome!

@BB-- signature updated! and I think you are right about not needing stealth. I went around this afternoon shooting sometimes from the hip and sometimes stopping and aiming and I am SURE I did not get as many funny looks as with my E-PL1. Also, with sounds turned off, and even with spot focus...

    Hi From Rome!

It's here! In only four days, which is warp speed considering the Italian Post... and it does not look so bad; feels really solid and well-made. And it seems WEE-tiny compared to my "compact" E-PL1. I used up a pair of AAA batteries just update FW from 2.2 to 2.4 and making basic settings. As...

    Hi From Rome!

Ricoh Why I love the Ricoh GRD cameras

I am anxiously awaiting my new (old stock) GRD1. I hope for it to become my street/carry everywhere camera. SO much of the stuff I see here and the Ricoh forum is really special. Only problem is, adding my Olympus E-PL1 and E-P1, and any of several film cameras, on holiday I may end up going...
