Hey everyone,
I'm the guy with the G7X in the episode being discussed (the one who doesn't look comfortable on camera). Since the video was posted there have been a lot comments about us being overly harsh on the Canon. While we shoot for The Camera Store, all the opinions presented are those...
After it's announced. Panasonic has never gotten us a camera before the official announcement. But they do seem to like us, so hopefully we'll see it soon.
Hey guys,
Not so much still photography related, but I thought a few might want to see some footage from a Go Pro Hero 3+ Black on a DJI Phantom. Sample footage in the first minute:
The objective of the Quattro was to maintain the stellar Foveon image quality and address the many limitations of the camera. These are the battery life, AF, and interface. We address that when used properly, the Quattro still produces spectacular images (though not quite as sharp as the...
If you're doing any work where the fast AF is important, I'd go for the GH4. The DFD system is unbelievable, especially with your 12-35. The E-M1 AF is good, but the GH4 is another world.
Hey everyone,
I had a chance to spend a good chunk of time shooting with the GH4, and have this video to show for it:
It's pretty video-centric, but so is the camera!
Hey everyone,
I just finished making this little video, it has my feelings on the value of camcorders now that all our cameras can take such nice video. I used the Sony RX10 as an example of the best all-in-one package for video, but it could apply to many more cameras. What do you guys...
Every person we've filmed with who has mentioned owning a digital medium format camera has been described by the internet as snobby. So if you want to remain grounded, remember to stick to full frame or smaller formats.
Hey everyone,
Here's my latest video, comparing two of the best pocket sized cameras on the market, the Panasonic GM1 against the Sony RX100 Mk II:
Let me know what you think!
It's a huge improvement, even though it was a pre-production camera, the X-E2 felt snappier than even the X100S. Unfortunately, as RAW files are not supported yet, I can't comment on write times. Shooting JPEG though, we never hit any issues.
It's the same magnification and resolution, but with a much faster refresh rate. Sorry, Chris should have been more specific, I'll give him a smack next time I see him!
The Zeiss is crazy sharp. It may not be the fastest lens, but it warrants the cost in terms of sharpness. From F4 on, the lens is sharp corner to corner, even on the A7R.
Here's a few answers:
- The widest lens I test was a Leica 28mm F2, which was a hair soft in the edges wide open, but fine by F2.8. Similar performance to a Leica M Type 240. I think the sensor is actually curved to improve wide angle performance.
- I only had the LA-EA3 adaptor available...
Hey guys,
I've been away from the forum for a while working on a very cool project, but I thought you might want to check out my field test for the Sony A7 & A7R. I've spent a good amount of time with these cameras, so hit me with any questions.
Here's my blog post for the article as...
The video quality is quite a bit better on the GX7, I also prefer the handling and menu system on the Panny. However, if you're using legacy lenses, the NEX-6 has better focus aids, and a more manageable crop factor.
Hey everyone,
I had the very cool chance to do a full video review of the new Olympus E-M1 before its announcement. I can finally post the video of that shoot:
Olympus OMD E-M1 Hands-On Field Test - YouTube
I'd love to hear your thoughts, let me know if you have any questions...
Unfortunately, we had to restrict how many cameras we tested to avoid making a 20 minute video, even the 12 minute length is sort of pushing it. Knowing that, Chris and I decided to focus on the higher priced 'premium' underwater cameras, around the $350 mark. If you're in the mood for a...
