    Ricoh Surprise! Ricoh GRIIIx (Showcase)

I've been hoping for this one for a long time now. Adding to my collection of APS-C compacts. Ricoh GR, Fuji XF10, Sigma DP1 (ASP-Cish) Sigma DP2M and now pre-ordered the GR IIIx :)

Fuji Showcase Fujifilm XF10 - A place to share your photos

I should be receiving mine next week, wasn't really looking to buy one but then I came across an offer I couldn't refuse. Can't have too many pocketable cameras, right? :)

    Free range, and proud.

We have quite a few of those at work, we only use them when you need quiet surroundings or privacy for a phone call or the likes. They work great for that purpose, I couldn't imagine spending 7-8 hours in one though.

GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Desires Big and Small

I just recently gave in to a long-term craving of mine and bought a Sony A7Rii. That full frame allure combined with a great Black Friday deal got the better of me. The next challenge will be to keep myself from buying a lot of lenses I don't need. So far I'm trying to stick to the Samyang 45mm...

Advice Wanted Was asked for camera advice - what would you advise?

It sounds like she can control the light, doesn't need fast focusing, but want high resolution, good colors and no color moire. I'd recommend her a Sigma dp3 Quattro, but stress to her it's a specialized tool for her purpose not a general purpose camera.

GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Desires Big and Small

I'm considering wide angle options for my new A7Rii. Primary candidates the Tamron 24mm f2.8 and the Voigtländer 21mm f3.5. They both have their pros and cons but these are the ones I keep coming back to when reading through reviews and comments online.

Just put a very big print on my wall

I decided it was time to redecorate the living room wall. It's an 8 metre wall with no windows or doors in it, and it's just begging for a big print. This is five 80x120cm (32"x48") canvas prints combined in a 400x120cm (13' by 4') panorama, and it looks awesome :) The source image is a single...

Google Google Pixel 3 (I think I'm done with "traditional" cameras)

According to the GSM Arena the selfie camera on the Pixel 3a is significantly worse than the one on the Pixel 3. Maybe that matters to some. I for one would prefer if it wasn't there at all, so I'm glad they didn't spend extra money on it :) Very tempting piece of kit, it might make the perfect...

    Your experiences with traveling light?

Funny, it's been almost 2 years and my preferred travel setup is still the same. I'm starting to consider if a phone could replace the GR, but I still don't see anything on the market that can replace the DP2M without being larger.

Google Google Pixel 3 (I think I'm done with "traditional" cameras)

I really like the concept of computational photography, we bought an original Pixel which my wife uses, and for her it's so much better than any camera would be. Zero fuss, just snap a picture and you're done, automatically synced to the cloud so she doesn't have to fiddle with transferring...

News GR III - it's coming.

Losing TAv mode might simply be Ricoh deciding to allow AutoISO in M mode. Saves space on the dial and it doesn't change the functionality. It looks very good to me, I just hope they managed to put in PixelShift as well that would be awesome! Sounds like it's a new battery though :(

German alps with my Sigma DP2M

I just got back from a trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in southern Germany. Such amazing scenery. Critique Wanted Comparison test....

I agree completely, I've never been able to match camera jpeg output between different brands, or even models of the same brand. Sometimes I actually prefer them having different outputs, just because some of them do something very cool that the other can't do. Like the HiBW, the cross process...

    Critique Wanted Comparison test....

I prefer the bottom one (Fuji), but you could probably change the Olympus settings to pull back the highlights a bit more and add a tad of saturation and then they would look very similar. Full size files might show more.

Fuji XF10, they were right, not the X70 replacement

That champagne gold version does look nice. When I saw the picture of the little girl and the camera my first thought was "Noooo! She's going to smudge the lens!" :D

    Fuji New lens roadmap leaked

The 33mm f1 is probably going to cost a fortune. I expect the 16-80 f4 to be cheaper than the 16-55 f2.8, and the 16mm f2.8 to be cheaper than the 16mm f1.4, so those will probably not be too expensive. Too big, for sure though :)

Fuji XF10, they were right, not the X70 replacement

Back when the GR first came out Nikon announced the Coolpix A just before Ricoh announced, and then Ricoh launched the GR at a lower price than the A. Hoping we'll see a GR III soon at a lower price than the XF10 :D

Fuji XF10, they were right, not the X70 replacement

It's going to be interesting to see how the lens performs on the 24mp sensor, looks to be the same lens the X70 has. From what I could gather the X70 lens isn't as sharp as the Ricoh GR one, and a higher resolution sensor is going to show that even more. But maybe they improved the lens. It...

    Sony RX100 Mk VI

I'm starting to get tempted myself. It looks like it would be the perfect companion to my Sigma DP2M. I bought a A6300 earlier this year, but I'm not bonding with it at all, I much prefer the DP2M files and carrying around two "midsize compacts" isn't really what I want. The RX100 VI would...

    I need talking down.

Between the X100s and the GR I don't see a big different in image quality, differences sure, but they're both around the same level. So what I would do is compare the other features of the two and decide which you would enjoy most. The GR is tiny, has a 28mm lens and has brilliant controls. The...

    Sony RX100 Mk VI

Supposedly Leica puts in their own firmware and JPEG processing and you used to get a very nice software bundle as well. If you're shooting raw and have the software you need I'm guessing you get a red dot and a fancy color scheme, and maybe better resale value.

    Sony RX100 Mk VI

Yes I'm sure Sony would much prefer if people buy a mk V and a mk VI, but realisticly I don't think there would be any way of increasing the focal range and keeping the aperture as fast as the older version. To me it looks like a reaction to the Panasonic TZ100/200 cameras, apparently Sony sees...
