    Sony Hoocap + RX1 = <3

Yeah after using one on the RX1 that's about exactly what I figured it'd look like on the X100 series.... :D Sorry I didn't see your message sooner, I would have tried to talk you out of it. For some reason I didn't get an email notification so I didn't see your reply to this thread.

    Sony Hoocap + RX1 = <3

No, I never tried it, and I sold the RX1 and Hoocap quite some time ago. I'm almost positive it would not fit on the X100 series from what I remember of the size shape and mount though.

    Fuji Holster

You might look at Cotton Carrier also. I actually have the StrapShot model, though I have never used it. I picked up a Peak Design Capture clip shortly after the StrapShot, and the Capture clip won out for me due to the better versatility. I particularly appreciate the fact that the Capture...

    Fuji Landscape/nature & travel

To get the most out of processing X-Trans files with Photoshop or Lightroom the main caveat seems to be unusual sharpening settings being required compared to other formats. Other than that I've had no problem getting satisfactory results in terms of color, sharpness, clarity, contrast, etc. As...

    Fuji Landscape/nature & travel

Long story but the short version is I ultimately prefer smaller gear, and rangefinders in particular. Since my daughter was born a couple years ago I'm also simply not doing nearly as much of the type of shooting I was using my Nikon gear for (events and portraits with artificial lighting). I...

    Fuji Landscape/nature & travel

This would be a tough question for anybody else to answer but you ultimately... how do you shoot with your Nikon kit? I'm also a Nikon shooter FWIW... but currently in process of selling off all my Nikon gear and getting back into Fuji X (for the third time) though :D Using Nikon for travel...

Leica Anyone here bought the SL

I suppose that's partially true, assuming the SL is a marked improvement over the A7 series in that regard (I haven't looked for test results of M lenses on the SL, since I wasn't in the market). Personally I didn't have any problems and certainly not any "phenomenal smearing" with any of my M...

Leica Anyone here bought the SL

I find the SL interesting and I hope it's a success for Leica (anything that keeps them making cameras and lenses!). But at least for me I have a hard time envisioning buying one to use with M lenses currently, when you can get a Sony A7 body for a fraction of the cost and get equivalent or...

Ricoh The Ricoh GR image thread

Finally got myself a GR... I never thought I'd be interested in one but it's turned out to be the greatest thing to happen to my photography in a long time. It fits what I wanted it for right now like a glove, and having a pocketable P&S with great image quality has completely re-inspired my...

    Film Showcase Kodak Portra 400

I know exactly what you mean Amin. I've been finding myself shooting progressively more film for the same reasons, though I definitely don't see myself dropping digital any time soon. I just shipped out 10+ rolls of 120 and 35mm out to RPL last week, and I've got 5 more sitting here ready for...

News Leica Q Type 116 Leaked Image, Specs

I'm mostly just teasing you because I remembered everything you said about the RX1 in your initial thoughts about it when I saw the Q announcement. I kid you not, the first thing I thought when I read the release was "geez, that sounds like it was designed to Ray's exact specifications! FF...

Ray, I think you doth protest too much... I have a feeling I'm going to log in several months down the line and you'll have a Q in your hands somehow anyway - hahah. :D The depreciation factor on the Q should be interesting. The RX1 pricing took a nose dive despite it being a well loved and...

News Leica Q Type 116 Leaked Image, Specs

I've read a few reviews and it seems as though Leica's made a really great camera with the Q ... a worthy followup to the RX1 which itself is a fantastic camera. What will be most interesting to me is whether Sony follows this with an RX2 with a built-in EVF or something along those lines...

News Leica Q Type 116 Leaked Image, Specs

That seems to be what Leica is banking on to some extent. If you didn't see, the new Q has a 28mm lens, but also has a 35mm and 50mm crop mode that are 15MP and 8MP, respectively. If you shoot JPG they're cropped in camera, if you use DNG format then LR will show the crop by default but you can...

Usefulness of mirrorless (with 2.8 zoom lenses)

I think that's basically it in a nutshell. Any of these systems can be reasonably small with carefully prime lenses but when you hit the f/2.8 zooms the size advantage is much less noticeable, with the exception of m4/3 gear. The 12-35 and 35-100 f/2.8 Panasonic lenses are still positively...

    Film Hacked Instax

I've also seen a workaround to expose Instax film in a Rolleiflex or other TLR with a polaroid back, and polaroidconversions.com offers conversions of Polaroid cameras to use Instax films. To my mind the bigger benefit rather than a better lens is regaining manual exposure control. I enjoy...

    Film Mamiya RZ67

As an RZ67 owner I'd still love a Hasselblad V series or 200 series, no doubt. There were several practical reasons I liked the Mamiya (much lower price, hotshoe flash sync, bellows for close focus, 6x7 ratio) - but a Hasselblad is still on my someday wishlist for sure :) I think they're...

    Film Mamiya RZ67

Don't know yet, I've only used the 110mm so far :) The 110mm focuses closely thanks to the bellows design of the RZ67, but I know from experience on 35mm that that's a little on the short side for tight headshots so I picked up a 180mm just in case. Hopefully another time I'll get a chance to...

    Film Mamiya RZ67

The RB series is completely mechanical, the RZ is electronically controlled components. As a result, you can use RB67 lenses on an RZ67 in compatibility mode but you cannot use RZ series lenses on an RB body. If you use RB lenses the shutter speed control is on the lens in that case rather than...

Shot a couple rolls through my RZ67 so far, really enjoy this camera except for the humongous size. Film Recommend a place to develop and scan B&W film?

Got my first scans back from Richard Photo Lab and I'd definitely recommend them as a lab. The "medium" scans from 6x4.5 120 film are 2048x2796 pixels in dimensions, which is about what I use for Facebook posting and general sharing. I had them do one roll of HP5+ B&W process + medium scans...

Bit late to this thread, but just curious what did you end up keeping, Amin? Fuji FujiXspot $1,000 Giveaway - March 2015

Looking back over my LR catalog, nothing really noteworthy to show for the month of march on my X100T. I have done most of my B&W processing at home but just sent out a roll of 120 and one of 35mm to Richard Photo Lab for processing and scanning. Film Metering for color negative film

Too funny, I just read the same post the other day and found it very interesting and informative. Fuji Quality M-mount Helicoid/Close-focusing adapter?

Not really - I bought the Fuji adapter and used that. I eventually sold off all my X-mount gear (still have an X100T) so it's a moot point now. If I were still in the market I'd probably go with the Hawk's adapter since it has the best reputation, but I never did end up trying one.

    Konost Full Frame Rangefinder concept

    Konost Full Frame Rangefinder concept

Nice... I just picked one of these up recently too. I missed having at least one crazy fast lens and figured might as well get something for the A7 that'd let me play with extra shallow DoF  It's a surprisingly good lens, especially considering the price range!

Need help choosing a compact camera for travel and carry-around

How about a Panasonic LX100? I haven't owned one, but it should fit all your desired requirements. A 4/3 sensor, fixed zoom lens with some variety in focal length and a fast aperture, and a quality EVF. It'd certainly be on my list if I were in the market for a fixed lens travel camera.

    Leica M4 or M6?

Greeeat, now you tell me! I just sold my Fuji X-T1 and collection of Fujinon lenses to fund my M6, among other purchases. It was a tough call.... I have this nagging feeling I'm going to end up in Fuji X land again one day and re-buying the Fujinon glass I just sold

    Leica M4 or M6?

I've not shot an M4 but the first Leica I used was an M3, and I subsequently bought an M6TTL. Personally I really wanted at least a basic meter, and the easier film loading is a big help too. To be fair to the M3, you get a pretty good feel for exposure values over time, and I was able to use...
