There is no ornamentation on that car, it's all about function. It's an 88" wheel base car that can haul seven people. The only place for a spare tire is on the "Bonnet".

I've owned both the Land Rover and a Wrangler. The Wrangler is pretty water tight, the Land Rover drains well.

I posted a picture of my 1966 Land Rover in another post, and from the comments, It came to me that I was attracted to he "Brick" because I like things square.

Different strokes, and all that. I have a hard time spending any extra for color. Silly, I know, I bought the thing for about a third of original list. Even the yellow one would have been one of the better buys I have ever made.

I'm a curmudgeon, cameras are supposed to be black and silver. When I bought mine, yellow cost $10.00 more, so I have the black one!

    Pentax K-01 becomes prime camera

I bought the K-01 as a cheap backup body to my K110D. I have been totally seduced by the IQ and features of the brick. Yesterday I took the batteries and memory card out of the old SLR. It will make a fine backup.

Glad to hear that you aren't offended. I tend to be unfocused and a whole lot undisciplined so I am easily led off on tangents. My iPad using Forum Runner does not display smiley faces, so I'da missed that anyway.

Pentax To buy or not to buy....that is the ? etc etc

I also don't find it particularly ugly; but I like things a bit square. I have more trouble dealing with the amorphous curves of most current consumer products, including the current crop of SLRs. I just crop it up to being a curmudgeon.

Pentax To buy or not to buy....that is the ? etc etc

I marvel at the mixed emotions that the K-01 evokes. I can't think of another consumer product that has had such a love/hate response. I am amazed at the people that have bought and sold, then bought and resold, then in cases bought a third time. What is it about this machine that creates this...

Pentax To buy or not to buy....that is the ? etc etc

I never thought about it that way; but the K-01 has that solid, well put together feel that is reminiscent of early Volvos, and something I haven't experienced in any brand of Consumer DSLR. Actually, I have compared the feel to my Pentax MX.

Pentax To buy or not to buy....that is the ? etc etc

I hope you enjoy using your K-01 as much as I have mine. Just keep an open mind, and remember that it is not an SLR. It has different strengths and weaknesses than other cameras. I find the lack of eye level viewfinder to be liberating. It allows totally different viewpoints and hence composition.

Your'e absolutely right! However, I believe I'm an outlier on this sight; I don't buy much photo equipment. I use only Pentax, because I want to use the lenses that I have accumulated over the years, ranging from a Soligar 180 mm preset screw mount, a Quntaray 100-300 zoom that I bought because...

Pentax To buy or not to buy....that is the ? etc etc

I'll start off by saying that I have very little experience with different cameras. In 40 years, I have owned three film cameras, and three digitals, all Pentax. And until the K-01, all SLR. I bought the K-01 as a backup for my K110D and now the DSLR is the backup. In bright sunlight I use the...

US internet sale tax is coming!

Interesting argument! If I go to New York, walk into Adorama's store and purchase something, the sales tax goes to the State of New York. That sales tax then benefits the infrastructure supporting that business. If I buy that same item on line, the sales tax will go to the State of Minnesota...
