Can a dedicated mirrorless shooter find true happiness with a DSLR?

I totally agree with this, perhaps it's because I am used to a Panasonic G3 and LX5, but my Canon 6D does have a certain richness to the photos taken with it. I have to say that I also noticed it from time-to-time with my now sold Pentax K5, maybe its the better dynamic range and high ISO...

Can a dedicated mirrorless shooter find true happiness with a DSLR?

Thanks BBW! It's been far too long since I've been active on this site - the last few years have been interesting and very busy for me. I have much to share in another thread, I guess it'll be quite looong and be about what I've been up to the last few years as well as the usual GAS talk... oh...

Can a dedicated mirrorless shooter find true happiness with a DSLR?

Wow I haven't been here for a loooooooong time and the GAS is still here! Must resist urge to get DF... (Seeing some of the comments here kinda, maybe, maybe not, possibly make me regret going not going for a DF and getting a 6D instead...) But more seriously, I recently sold most of my m43...

An update on me. My Crash and a message (Warning post gets deep!)

Hi everyone, Here's a brief update on my life I'm sorry, this is loooooooong over due! Time sure has flown by, and some how or another it's already Feb 2012 - it felt like just yesterday since I graduated in July 2011 lol. When I graduated last July I thought I'd finally have more...

Serious Compacts Podcast 1: Arrival of the 'X' Cameras

Wow, this is AWESOME! I've got to say I think the Podcasts are a great idea, it great to be able to put some voices to our friends here on site, it somehow makes the whole experience more realistic. It's also great to see Terry around here (not sure if Terry is a member though as I've been...

What's Your Favourite Camera (and lens combo optional) of all time?

Don, I know how you feel, I've tried out a few of the new Panny G series and numerious serious compacts the past few weeks, and I hate how some cameras are so over complicated. These days I love the simplicity of my K5 and the GXR (used my girlfriends) and the GRD. I use a Canonet sometimes...

    A top of Moel Ellio

Beautiful colour in all of them, but no.2 is my favourite by far - it has great composition and good use of foreground detail, well done! I agree with Alf, I bet with your great vision, you could make any camera look good :-)

What's Your Favourite Camera (and lens combo optional) of all time?

I guess my favourite camera and lens combo has to be the Pentax K5 and FA31 Limited by far. Reason being that the combination somehow felt good, the lens and body are both well built and balance well, and the K5 has a great grip IMO. The lens together with Pentax's colours were always perfect...

What's Your Favourite Camera (and lens combo optional) of all time?

Reading Amin's thread about 'What gear do you regret selling?' made me ask the question: 'What's your favourite camera of all time?' You don't have to have owned it but you must have used it. It could be a camera and a particular lens combo, as opposed to a camera with just a fixed lens...

What gear do you regret selling?

I guess it has to be Pentax's FA31 limited because it was small, light and infused with fairy dust lol - the lens just has some amazingly film-like colour and consistently nicer bokeh which I just can't get from the Sigma 30mm. I originally sold it because I didn't think I was worthy of such an...

Kal, the 3 colour photos you've posted here are really awesome! I love how they look so film-like and old fashioned, the colour is great! - Keep up the good work :-) PS you're really tempting me with the M8 and Sonna combination! (though I've still not bought a M8 as I find myself very busy...

    Fuji Focus Issues

Hmmm it could be operator and camera error. If the X100 guesses what to focus on it could have just focused on the wrong thing like what Don (Streetshooter) mentioned above. If you want to see if the AF has gone 'bad' try use the centre focus box/point mode and focus and recompose and see if...

    Photography related Christmas gift suggestions?

I finally had a moment to go through the whole of your photobook too and WOW. Pany G3 vs. Nikon V1 "shootout"

Nice video, thanks for sharing Armando. Just as they say, two dif cameras for dif purposes. I guess if it were me I'd have the G3 for the lens selection and touch shutter - perfect for street. If it were my brother, he likes taking photos of race cars so he'd love the V1's 60fps. Any plans to...

Cats The Requisite Cat (Kitty) Photo thread

I just saw the exif info  it definately knocks the socks off my LX5 at ISO800, and the GRD was wide open at f/1.9 also :O I wonder how much sharper the GRDIV is as it apparently has a thinner AA filter... Opinions on selling my K5? (or DSLR's in general)

Christilou, I thought the same thing so I sold the FA31 I had and bought a DA21 and Sigma 30mm... strangely enough the DA21 got the least use though it was the smallest so I sold it.The sigma is nearly always on my camera. Thanks for all the input here :-) True the K5 does have its place, I guess because I don't need the money from the K5 I'llkeep it whilst I get either a used Pentax Q (lol I actually found one already!) or GRD (III seems a good value buy atm!) and then see how much use the K5 really gets ...

Thanks guys, I agree with what you've both said, its such a hard decision for me. I don't really need the $$$ to fund anything, I guess its mainly guilt that it doesn't get as much use as it should. I keep thinking I should either: 1. sell the Pentax stuff and invest in a smaller and lighter...
