    Leica Alhambra Couple

I do too, though we didn't spend much time there this trip. Some day, I'd like to stay at the Alhambra Palace Hotel and spend a week wandering around the nooks and crannies of the place.

    Leica Introduce Yourself...

Hey, I never registered over here. Used to hang out in Serious Compacts, but kind of wandered off, as I do. I'm mostly a Leica shooter, though, so I joined here. Finally.

    Pitcairn Island

They were speaking English (sort of a mix between a British, New Zealand, and American accent), but the island language is Pitkern, which is a creole of (18th century) English and Tahitian.

I'd love other recommendations. When I get to Bora Bora and have internet where iTunes isn't blocked, I'll pick up Winchester's book. I loved Ken Jennings's book Maphead, though it's more about the different cultures of geography freaks than anything else. Yes, most of the residents are...

    Pitcairn Island

One of the most difficult places in the world to get to. World's smallest democracy (though it is a British Overseas Territory). We met about 2/3 of the people on the island the other day. Just two square miles a thousand miles from anywhere, basically. Or, as we did it, three days west of...

I had flipped by this photo dozens of times, but when I went to pick a photo that represented Italy to me, I realized it was just a bit washed out. I used Snapseed to bring up the true color. Larger version here. And yeah, for Venice, this is street.... GF1, 20mm

B&W The Real Silver Effex Thread and Gallery is now online.

I used a graduated neutral density filter in Silver Efex for this. It de-emphasized the other flag and bearer, as well as reduced the brightness of the lights in the background, both of which had the effect of making Paul McCartney stand out more. P1120669 by Deirdre Saoirse Moen, on Flickr

Sony Adapter M39 (LTM, LSM, L39) > E-mount (Sony NEX)

That's what I thought, too, but the LSM -> M43 adapter's larger, so it takes up more space (and so would the NEX one be), and is thus more annoying to me to carry around than an extra LSM -> M adapter. Thus, I've simply bought LSM -> M adapters for all my screw-mount lenses and leave the...

Sony Adapter M39 (LTM, LSM, L39) > E-mount (Sony NEX)

You don't really need a separate one for Leica screw mount, just get a screw mount to M adapter and use two adapters. It'll work. Voigtlander makes nice ones.

    Apple iPad "Essentials"

Ray, you might find this story funny. I had the original iPod, the 5 gig model. I filled it, then I wanted to buy a bigger iPod when the 3rd gen came out, so I gave my old one to my mom (who was around 65 at the time). She went crazy over music and filled it, then wanted more. So I went with...

I packed my GF1 on my latest trip, but I injured my shoulder about six weeks ago, and thus was trying not to carry around anything I didn't need to take with me each day. Apple iPad "Essentials"

I have a 16G wifi + 3G iPad 1. I'm about to buy an iPad 2. Initially, I'd had the top-end iPhone, but when I got an iPad, it was given to me, so I didn't get a choice about the size. What I've found is that I use far more on the iPad, so when I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a 4S, I downgraded...

Who's (un)happy with their tablet computer?

I'm on my second iPad (original). I had an iPad wifi, then was given one with 3G. I love it, but now I feel really sentimental about it, so I may get an iPad 2 so I can keep this one around.
