WINNER ANNOUNCED 31st Serious Compacts Salon Challenge - PAUSE

OK well thanks @Luke . Before I begin two things: 1. I hope all is well with Milan, @pictogramax has been a steady presence around these parts and so his sudden disappearance is not that usual. Please check back in with us mate. 2. I've never judged, nor watched, one of these Salon Challenges...

    SiJ 2017 - Day 9.

Seriously Karen I need to get to Scotland. And fear not, I am coming to stalk you - though a coffee might be nice ;) - but it must be a wondrously dark and foreboding place, full of mystery and intrigue. Your images portray this sense so powerfully.

Thanks for the reality-check mate  I'll wait for @MoonMind to pop back in and we'll fine tune the dates. I'm keen to get something solid - including a timeline - soon in case we wish to spread the word more widely. I dropped the hint over at Serious Compacts today and we have at least...

Great to have you on-board mate  Do you have that second 35mm camera at the ready mate? If not, do you think you'd have one hunted down in time to start shooting in February? OK so I'm sure I have this clear in my mind. January: - we continue focusing on SiJ February: - start...

As any uncle would say "oh they grow up so fast!" And lucky for your son I'm over 15,000kms away because as a good Southern European uncle I'd give him a good hard pinch on the cheeks while saying that! But seriously congratulations on his transition to college.....well I think it's...

ha ha ha, just as I pointed out to @christilou the other day, it is amazing over these 6 years or so how we have grow up with your children. I feel a little like an uncle. Your son seems to have warmed to the camera a bit more mate

    SiJ 2017 - Day 8.

Something about this image, that I really, really like. Can't quite put my finger on why but I think it has to do with the feeling of nostalgia - maybe of the memories of what that figure meant to a young child? Either way, thanks for sharing.

Not over-ambitious at all. I think a plan is beginning to take form. I'd like to keep myself focused on SiJ for this month, but could you give us a rough timeline on how your proposal would play out - over February and March? This will give me the opportunity to have my kit sorted in...

Time to give myself a litle credit. I've turned a bit of a corner with my 'personal fitness'. I should make clear before I proceed that I have little interest in the body beautiful it's purely to keep this machine maintained to a minimum....it's getting a little creaky as it gets on. Anyways...

Leica Any reason to consider an M8 in 2016?

Yeah not a bad little portfolio there!...though I think the lenses might have a little something to do with it too ;) ....I need the prices to come down a fraction more on the M8s. Once they're in the 1K zone I think I might strike.

Guys, an idea is forming in my mind, so please feel free to burst this bubble before it has time to take up any more space... Presumptuous of me I know, as the new guy, but be keen to involve others in some of @MoonMind and my recent thoughts on a film challenge. Many, many moons ago on Serious Compacts I kicked off the "Single In" challenges. A photo-a-day challenge restricting the shooter to one camera/lens...

Yeah I've tried to hide my MF camera - only have the Yashicamat 124G ATM. It's weird being back - beyond the little compacts (mju-ii, XAs, etc.) - and I'm looking forward to buring some 35mm over the weekend. Yeah the Bessa is tempting because of all the lazy features like a meter, easier...

You got a sympathetic ear here mate. Even more so as we also save racehorses. Now this is an awful business. One of the highest percentage of 'wastage' in any live industry - hence why I am thoroughly unable to enjoy the visage of something like the Melbourne Cup. Only a small percentage of...
