    Aperture, Lightroom or something else?

I get the feeling that you have already made up your mind for Lightroom but maybe not. I am a big fan of Aperture not that it is the greatest and best, it may or may not be. Reviews that are Mac specific seem to favour Aperture over Lightroom but the margin is small. While I have used...

    Wedding photography - why can't I have the RAW's?

Well, I never gave away my negatives and I was asked to from time to time about it. I made it clear before the shoot that I would not do it as I wanted to have full artistic control over my work. If they didn't agree then I am sure they could find someone else that would do their work. My...

Sam not sure if this is what you are looking for but I made a whole bunch of tools for Photoshop Elements. I have tested them up to version #8 of Elements but have sense lost interest. I don't support them but they are free and they all work for the versions I tested.

What do you think about Flickr?

I used Flickr for a long time. In fact I had two sites one for photography and one for graphic art. It was a great place to post, see others works and be seen. Unfortunately my tastes have changed and I have moved on to Wordpress. Today I still recomend Flicker as a hassle free photo sharing...

Possibility of editing directly from external hard drive?

Kris You are correct in you assumption of the box and arrow. It simply means the files are Referenced instead of Managed and are somewhere else than in Apertures Library. In your case on and external hard drive. Aperture will maintain all the Donkey work associated with these files, with...

    Invitation: Pinhole photography

You're right, if you haven't tried something it may seem hard but once you have tried it then it often seems easy. Here is an image of how the general set up looks. The pinhole must be small, just a prick. Then lightly sand the back side so you get a near perfect hole with no burs. Other...

    Invitation: Pinhole photography

No problem in sharing, although it is not much to the technique. I had an old body cap in the bottom of my kit and I simply drilled a 1/4" hole in it. Then I took a small piece of copper garden edging, it was thicker than foil but not by much, and put a tiny pin hole in it and then I glued it...

What's your recipe for high contrast B&W?

I use lots of tools and shoot all my images in raw. I process the raw image first trying to get the very best possible image I can, generally in Aperture but not exclusively. If I am going to apply filters I export to Photoshop so I can take advantages of the layers as well as the filters.
