Sony My First Attempt at Capturing Bokeh !!!!

Good work. Eventually it becomes second nature and bokeh is everywhere  The following photo was simply taken with Intelligent Auto mode on the NEX 5, 18-55mm kit lens. I believe ISO was pretty high at 1600.

Sony 18-55 or thirdy party lens

The 18-55 at $150 is a great price. It's not the best of lenses, but at least it has autofocus, which is handy for everyday use. Imagine trying to manually focus all the time with people around... what a nightmare. I'd still buy a third party lense down the track for more professional shots...

    Sony ping pong ball diffuser

It's definitely better than a piece of paper. I tried so many methods to find a simple ping pong ball to be perfect.

I read about this on dpreview a couple of weeks ago and tried it. Been using it ever since. It works great, although I get some weird stares... LOL. Cheers, Dan

    Sony Question on NEX3

I would suggest taking it to a shop and test it with the NEX lenses. Tell them you dropped the camera and broke the lens. So you're looking at buying another one, but you need to check to see if the camera works first.

    Sony Choice of Memory Cards

Agree with everyone. Technically, Class 4 should be sufficient. I went with a Trascend Class 10 to be safe. Cheers, Dan

    Show Modern Architecture

Thanks Admin for suggesting this page. Have included a shot of the Petronas Twin Towers when I visited Malaysia last month. Make a mistake... should have made sure I included the peaks in the photo. Without them, you'd have no idea what I was taking a photo off. Camera: Sony Nex5. 18-55mm...

Sony Possible Flash Problem NEX5 ?

Hi guys, Hoping you can help me out. I've noticed that when trying to take night portraits on Intelligent Mode, my shutter speed is approximately 0.6" without a flash. That's to be expected. However, when I lift up my flash, the shutter speed improves slightly. However, the shutter...

Thanks for the comments and tips everyone. I just read about the Fuji x100. They managed to squeeze in a viewfinder. Styling is old school. Cheers, Dan

Sony Fun with the NEX 18-55mm kit zoom

Hi All, Just joined today. Got my NEX about 5 weeks ago and have been taking lots of photos. Great compact. I get teased by hardcore DSLR users all the time. But hey, it's compact and takes great shots. Am currently looking at buying either a Nikkor lense or Carl Zeiss lens to go with it...
