What do you guys set your cameras at to get good pictures of snowy scenery?

For sure 3 is a great shot.

Just wondering did you crop the pictures? Or did you use a specific focus option?

is there a way to control the metering mode? such as the spot or center one? or is that not possible on our cameras? like move the little square or can u point the camera at something half way press the shutter button and than re position your camera to where you want to?
