    Dale was right!

It's an issue unique to Olympus cameras up to and including the E-M5 when used in combination with Panasonic OIS lenses. The body and lens IS are separate systems and if both are turned on there is no lockout to prevent them from working concurrently as is the case in the later model cameras...

    Fuji Livin' the Low-Fi Life

Yes, I'll stick to the Latin American form of the language if I ever go to Spain, but there are regional variations there as well. For example the double L might be pronouced as a Y or a J depending on where you are. Phonetically it's a very easy language to learn, however (and like all...

    Micro 4/3 A question for OM-D E-M5 users

You can assign AE-L to a button and lock the sky exposure first before focusing elsewhere. Conversely you can also assign AF-L to a button as Luke mentioned that allows you to use "back button autofocus" such that a half press of the shutter button is solely to set the exposure. M mode is also a...

Discussing Aperture equivalency (or something like that)

To save you from de-railing this thread any further, think of what you've been told here as like learning theory at School or University. There is science behind it, but in a practical, real world situation it may or may not make all that much of a difference.

Ricoh GXR With A16 Module $269

As much as I disliked Ricoh's compact camera inspired controls, there is still something compelling to me about the GXR. Maybe it is the semi-logical/semi-flawed "lensor" concept. I'm not too sure about the A16 zoom however as proportionately the two A12 primes are the best match for the GXR...

    Canon Canon Forums

Photography-on-the.net Digital Photography Forums used to be a Canon-specific forum but some time ago they added a bunch of extra sub-forums for various other brands of camera. I think they were added because a lot of 5D owners kept moaning about (a lack of) dynamic range and were buying Nikon...

Is traffic on photo boards way down?

It seems that I haven't been active here since November, so count me as "part of the problem". My main reason for participating on camera forums was to seek out information and to guage where I was against peers and how I could improve. When you hit diminishing returns in that area and don't...

Samsung Upgrading from NX300 to NX500?

Until the NX300, Samsung didn't apply any compression to the native SRW raw files which resulted in 20 megapixel images being saved to a file size of approx. 40Mb. The NX300 and alter Samsungs apply a degree of lossless compression to reduce file sizes. An NX300 raw file can be read natively...

Whats your favorite (Digital) camera for street photography

I would personally avoid any of the lower tech cameras which only offer a more traditional user interface. Dead Camera Thread

I remember the deltas but not the absolutes, however 920g sounds vaguely familiar (995g-75g). The SWD version of the lens wasn't simply the old lens with a new focusing motor.

    Dead Camera Thread

Comparing SWD and non-SWD 50-200mm lenses, the SWD lens is about 75g heavier than the non-SWD lens with caps only, and about 150g heavier when both lenses are kitted out with hoods and tripod collars.

    Micro 4/3 Olympus EM-1

I don't feel that the E-M1 was that much of an upgrade over the E-M5, and most of the smaller operational refinements made to the E-M1 in comparison to the E-M5 can also be found in any of the other newer and smaller Olympus bodies such as the E-P5, E-M10 and E-M5 II. The most useful that I...

    Canon Dynamic range of G1X

That is correct since the DR vs ISO graph for a Canon sensor scribes a curve compared to the almost straight line of most other brand sensors, but a dynamic range advantage at low ISOs only is still a dynamic range advantage.

    Canon Newbie with New G1X

It's quite possible given the age of the software that iphoto '09 simply hasn't been updated to be fully compatible with newer versions of raw files and dng conversions of them and especially any lens correction data built in to them. Panasonic FZ1000 Vs. ILCs With Superzoom Lenses

The GH4 and 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 should actually be the lightest (just!) combination at 825g vs 831g for the FZ1000. I suspect that he is using the weight of the original (and heavier) 14-140mm f4-5.8 which would add up to the 1020g quoted. A more comparable Panasonic m4/3 camera to the FZ1000...
