Indeed - if you never took photos when conditions weren't as expected you would never take photos!

    Sigma Tree and rock

I went up to a favourite scenic spot (Surprise View, Derbyshire) last night to try and catch a decent sunset with my X Pro 1 and E-M10 - weather forecast looked good for it. Of course come the hour come the clouds but rather than abandon the trip I thought I would at least see if I could get...

Micro 4/3 The moon with a £5 lens

@RB - excellent news. Will update accordingly. I think OPV has managed to achieve what I previously thought impossible by being at least 4 times less usable than SPP!

Micro 4/3 The moon with a £5 lens

One of the things that attracted me to MILC's (and in particular the E-M10 due to IBIS) is the amount of cheap legacy glass out there. Sure most of it is not as sharp as modern system specific glass but then a lot of it can be had for next to nothing. I fancied a 35mm film SLR and found one...

    Sunset in Black & White

Sometimes a photo that I intended to be a colour shot works better in black and white. This sunset is one such shot

Stroll If you ever visit The Netherlands, don't forget this car museum near The Hague

A lovely series - am particularly partial to a Bugatti. Stunning. Love the ones of the workbenches and old motorbike also

    The acorn and the oak

I wanted to capture a reminder of just how small my little boy still is - you forget when you see them growing up fast that they are still so little. A visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park gave me a couple of opportunities to capture this. Both taken with my X Pro 1 and XF 18mm...

    Military Aircraft

@rybolt - those are sensational shots. The planes almost look more silver than if you had shown them in colour. Superb angles as well...

Micro 4/3 GM1 is SMALL (and impressive)!

So nearly bought the GM1 as it was almost the perfect second body to back up my X Pro 1 - I wasn't bothered about having 2 bodies for the same system and the compactness of the zooms on m43 was enough to sway me toward that as a solution. The killer for me (and I know on a body that small...

Micro 4/3 Took the plunge Olympus OMD EM5

Having never even considered an m43 camera I have fallen for the OM-D series also - in my case the 10. Wonderful system - enjoy the 5. I have bought the 45mm f1.8 and it is a fine lens for the money when you want something a bit longer than the c. 20mm length. I have also got a few legacy...

Love No.7 - great capture. An absolute expression of a child at play enjoying themselves.

First street shots with Ricoh GRD IV

Thank you - a lot of these are shot using Ricoh's high contrast B&W setting with a little further tweaking in Silver Efex. Still developing my style on the urban side of things but enjoying it very much.

    Liverpool

I had an enforced trip to Liverpool a few weeks ago and once again the weapon of choice was the GRD IV. God I love this camera - truly a take anywhere device with lovely IQ and sublime handling. As a new street / urban shooter it is ideal as it just gets out of the way and lets me concentrate...

First day out with a 35mm Summilux on an X-T1

A very nice set. I love working in and viewing B&W shots and 2,3 and 4 are very nice. One of the reasons I got an MILC (and a Fuji in particular - X Pro 1 in my case) was to use legacy glass. So many nice lenses for not a lot of money and work like this inspires me.

First street shots with Ricoh GRD IV

Now I have a toddler I have far less opportunities to get out into the countryside to do landscapes. With this in mind and given the price I could get one for I thought I would pick up a GRD IV and have a go at some street / urban. My first attempts can be seen here: Manchester Archive...

Micro 4/3 I am going straight to hell - bought an O-MD E10

So, having already moved to the dark side by swapping out my Sony A77 for a MILC (X Pro 1 and went MILC for no other reason than at the moment it fits my shooting needs better than an SLR/SLT)) I have now secured my place on the 4th or 5th level of hell by purchasing an OM-D E-10. The thing...

    Fuji Big list of XT1 & 56mm f/1.2 reviews + galleries

That fashion shoot is insane. Must really stop looking at samples from this lens as I can see my buying something I really can't afford. That said as someone who is new to the X system (X Pro 1) I have the 18mm and am claiming my free 35mm (fantastic offer in the UK at the moment) and can just...

Fuji Finally succumbed to an X Pro 1

I admit defeat!! Having swore that I would never get rid of my dSLR (well ok dSLT but same thing - Sony A77 for the record) having shot with my new Ricoh GRD IV and Sigma DP2M I realised how liberating it was to have high quality cameras I could actually carry around most if not all of the...

Photoshop Creative Cloud Subscription currently £8.78 for UK users

i used to think the same re: online pricing But, when you think about it (and assuming you need full fat PS) the software used to cost around £550 and LR say £90 so £640 in total. The first 12 months are £8.78p/m or £105.36 for the first year. Take that of the £640 gives £534.64. Now...

Photoshop Creative Cloud Subscription currently £8.78 for UK users

Hi Bill PSE 10 is brilliant - I used it for ages. But, if you want full fat Photoshop subscription is now the only way and given that it is usually £18 p/m its a healthy saving for the first year. I have previously used DxO Optics Pro for my RAW work as I much preferred it to LR4. Am liking...

Photoshop Creative Cloud Subscription currently £8.78 for UK users

Hi all There are a couple of deals from Adobe at the moment in the UK at least that may of interest to people. LR5 for £72 and this is what I was going for until I saw they are offering a sub to Photoshop AND LR combined via Creative Cloud for £8.78 inc vat p/m fixed for 12 months. At...

    Sigma Surprising X3F Processing Software

Have been playing around with my new DP2M and from the research I did beforehand it seemed that SPP and Iridient are the only 2 apps that will process X3F files. Given that Iridient costs and SPP doesn't I was happy to stick with SPP even though it is a bit clunky. Now, I use Fasttone...

New to serious compacts (and seriouscompacts!)

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Quick first shot with the DP2M - just playing at the moment and will post some 'proper' shots in due course. Do love the detail it produces though, really is something else when being used sympathetically... SPP is a bit clunky must be said and I am new...

New to serious compacts (and seriouscompacts!)

Hi all Just thought I would introduce myself and give a little background my journey to serious compacts. I have been interested in photography for years and have had various cameras both film and digital over the years but I guess I starting getting serious about it when my sister long...
