Many thanks for that bit of research Richard. I too had been wondering if he was OK.
This bit "he admired the photographic work of James Ravilious" is familiar. He many times mentioned James Ravillious in his posts. There was some good laughs seeing who could get the most tractors in some of...
Both taken on the road from Dubai to Ras Al-Khaimah.
The mosque suddenly appeared after not seeing anything but desert for more than 15 mins and then there was nothing but desert until I saw the camels some while later.
Sheikh Zayed Road at 04:50 in the morning on the way to Dubai airport to catch our flight home after our last stay with my son 😢
Sheikh Zayed Road again in the evening
My village hung netting from the top of the tower down the front buttresses and decorated it with hand knitted creations. Look carefully at the second photo and you will find Ladybird, butterfly, bees and shells among other things.

Very rare Undulatus Asperatus clouds seen from my back garden 02 Aug 2013. These clouds were at a height of only 3-4000 feet. Talk about the Apocalypse. And these are colour, not B/W.
Not one of my better days today so a blast from the past.
My first digital camera which I bought in 2008 when I retired and took to Dubai in 2010. Some of the photos from this little Canon A720si camera are still some of my all time favorites
and it still works. Happy days!
That stile was very easy to get over even for me. Notice the extended uprights to hold on to. Unfortunately many landowners over the years seem to have designed their stiles as an obstruction to discourage walkers from their land but there is now a younger generation of "land custodians" who...
Another B/W, this time in L.Monochrome.D with the red filter. It was late morning and a nearly cloudless blue sky and the colour take just didn't look right
Went out to take this in bright sunlight which had disappeared by the time I got there.
This was the Sgt's shower block on the old RAF Great Ashfield airfield which was home to the USAAF 385th group flying B17 bombers during WW2. A few old abandoned buildings remain but are mostly inaccessible...
Early sun hitting the last off the clouds before a cloudless morning. After less than an hour of sunshine through the whole of December (officially the dullest December for 65 years) it was more than welcome even if it only lasted till midday.
