The M10 is calling my name too. Just can't do it yet. My M-E is working just fine. However, I have spent a little time with the M10 at the Leica Miami store a couple weeks ago. Plus I finally got to see what all the fuss is all about shooting with the 50 Noct.
My wife says she prefers the M-E's output but I don't remember getting skin tones from it like I have from the CMOS sensor. I have created a custom profile using a Xrite Color Checker which has helped for both cameras.
I do notice the weight difference btwn the two cameras. With the...
My favorite museum. I went through flight school there and its a favorite place to camp with our trailer at the RV park across from the Blue Angel's Hangar.
My M-E is there too. I was expecting mine back about now. i too called them yesterday and they dont have sensors for it either. Fortunately I asked for a loaner and got one before sending mine in. I too was offered the upgrade option but want to keep my M-E.
However, since using the M240 im...
It's quite obvious Leica did not design this camera for most of us on this forum. There is a place for a DSLR sized body and there are plenty of photographers that need that size. It's not like this is the only camera Leica makes now is it? And none of us are being forced to spend money on this...
Thanks Steve. The blue skies were a nice welcome after a couple days of hard rain with flood warnings where I live. I'm on my way up to the Blue Ridge Parkway this morning and evening for fall sunrise and sunset photography. Sometimes the Leica likes being on a tripod and the aperture ring...
Oh I completely understand how different lens designs draw in their own unique way depending on what aperture is used along with the quality of the light.
But I get bored when everything is in critical sharp focus especially when the photograph lacks a central subject that is to attract my...
I would bet if you stick with this lens for a few months and really spend time practicing you'll have a whole new appreciation for the rangefinder especially if someone were to hand you a different camera to photograph. That is if you truly get the hang of it and begin to enjoy the experience.
I wish I had the SL body right now as its cold and drizzly where I am and I could really appreciate its weather proof construction.
The body and 24-90 kit lens will make a great all weather landscape kit with the added bonus of 30min exposures without any ISO limitations.
I'm sorry but I think Leica has given up on the lower end market as it seems the only way to compete there is to sell at a loss and have continuous rebates. The new Leica M will be priced about where the current model is. I will buy the next version M with the current SL sensor. They don't...
I've become spoiled with my 35 Lux as it has a focusing tab whereas my 50 Lux pre-ASPH. and 75 Cron do not. I find the focusing tab increases my speed in focusing compared to my non tabbed lenses. The tab on my 35 Lux allows me to know a quick approximation on what distance the lens is focused...
Now that Leica has introduced the SL this allows them to update the M in a stripped down version. A simpler version since for the same price as the current M one can buy the SL to do video and use their R lenses.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see the new M have some of the enhanced electronics...
I'm waiting for someone to bitch about the price of the guys Apple Watch in the above photo. Kinda goes along with anything Leica makes is expensive.
The SL is the promised digital body for those who still own R glass and want and all solution. The follow on auto lens will be bought by those...
I thought the 50mm focal length would be perfect for my main lens when began with my first Leica almost threes ago as that was the focal length I'd been using on my previous camera. I photographed for at least 6 months with the 50. Then I thought I'd like to try the 35 focal length. It took a...
IMO the Luxes are made to be shot wide open. If it's zone focusing at F8 why spend the extra cash for a 1.4 lens? I have the pre-ASPH 50 6 bit coded and have no issues and enjoy it's rendering. I'm in no hurry to upgrade. But then it stays at home as the 35 Lux ASPH. is on the camera most all of...
Hi Christilou, I use Lightroom (LR) and what I'm about to explain only pertains to using LR or Photoshop with the built-in Camera Raw engine. By default, LR uses their "Adobe Standard" color profile for your camera's images you import. For us Leica users the only other option by default is the...
I have a M240 loaner from Leica as my M-E is at NJ with sensor issues. I've already been offered the upgrade option to the 240, M-P or 246. I made 2850k/6500k profiles using my color checker and find I like what I'm seeing so far, especially skin tones. I'm also getting more involved with...
I do what Peter does and will occasionally deep cycle my two Leica M9 batteries. Sometimes after they have been "fully" charged they really aren't by what the camera's battery info says. But after deep cycling they seem to work better.
My combo for travel as I do that more than half the year is the 35 Lux ASPH. and APO 75 Cron. When I need something in the middle I have the last version of the 50 Lux non-ASPH.
75 Cron
35 Lux
Thanks for the comments. I've been following all of you on the different forums and of have been observing your work with the MM am quite sure it would fill my requirements. I just have to figure out what to do.
I'm sure I'll get an offer from Leica to upgrade my M-E to the M240 for $3,500...
I haven't been hanging around these parts much but thought I'd chime in on the new M as it pertains to my current situation. I've been reluctant to send my M-E in for repair and have actually gone to the trouble of requesting UPS shipping labels on two different occasions but haven't sent my...
I'm more than hopeful that Leica will solve this situation. I'm actually trying to figure out how to keep my M-E and have the Monochrom. I've been shooting some indoor musician stuff at a local club where B&W will suffice. The different color lighting there does not do well with color images...
I did not need to read this one Brian! I've been having a debate in my mind about could this one camera work for me. Could I do without color if I had to sell my M-E to pay for it. But my mind keeps saying no. You need to have a color option.
Then you link to Roger's experience with the...
Hope Leica doesn't take too long to figure something out. I'm about to send my M-E for cleaning and to check to see if I have a bad column. My trouble is I will hate being without the camera. I've actually considered buying a second hand M9 or M-E to cover me during that time and then sell...
Virgin River, Zion
I was recently out in Zion National Park where I captured this photograph of the Virgin River just down stream from where the "Narrows" begins.
Can't disagree with you as it boils down to how it renders to the way you like. I was just mentioning a couple things I'd have to get around for it to work for me.
But I'm quite happy with my 35 Lux ASPH. (pre-FLE).
I did for one year but didn't see any reason to continue. JMO, I'm sure the new ZM will be a perfectly fine lens. But I've come to the conclusion that that there are no bad lenses made anymore. We can argue about this and that but it boils down to the look the lens creates that suits your...
