I need some advice.
For the purposes of photographing old books/documents of size 58cm x 48cm and 83cm x 58cm, I need to choose one of these two lenses that I would use on the Sony A7 IV:
1. Sigma 40mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art
2. Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG DN Art
I can only choose between those two lenses...
I was making my usual trip around the web when I stopped in at Sony Alpha Rumors. The first story is about preorders being open for Sigma's 50/1.2. There's a Dustin Abbot video review of the lens, except...
When I clicked the link to go to comments, the video wasn't Dustin...it was actually a...
I guess it was only a matter of time. I knew MPB had stopped a while back, but just learned that KEH and Used Photo Pro have both stopped as well.
What will this mean for prices on eBay and other used sites? Up? Down? No change? How long before Sony drops the LA-EA adapters series altogether...
Hey yāall!
Iām Alesia and Iām a wife, mom, and business owner with 10 associates. Our main clientele is couples that are getting married so we tend to do lots of weddings.

I have associates that work for me as well but I do all the editing...
I've been trying to figure out how to fix upload speed on my computer for some time. I've done all the search and destroy/malware/disk cleaners, but there seems to be so much junk running in the background that uploading image files is only getting to about 47MBps after the cache fills...
So rather than bog down the GAS thread, I thought I'd post here my thoughts on it thus far. The Sony A9 is my first modern full frame camera that I've bought having used the Sony A7S briefly (for MF lenses only) and the Canon 5D Classic. Main reason I bought the A9 was for its AF and continuous...

I had decided to stay with SD cards for the A1, I really don't need the added speed from the Express cards. The Kingston Canvas React Plus 256G has been selling for $190. Went to get one and they jumped to $220 overnight. Got pissed and started looking at other options. Pergear...
I have had the Sony A7 for a bit longer than a week, but only had a couple of old manual lenses to try on it, and frankly the results were not great. I traded in my remaining Fuji kit and picked up three lenses plus a converter and they all turned up this afternoon - luckily on my afternoon off...
Looking to add an on camera flash plus wireless trigger for my Sony A7. I am already full in with Godox so want either a TT685 or TT350 plus X Pro trigger. Looking on Amazon, all the listings say A7R but not A7 (later A7 versions are shown as compatible). Is there an issue with flash...
It's been so cold and windy here I've been holed up trying to stay warm. Finally decided to suck it up and try to get to know my new A1. I headed out to nearby Sterling State Park on Lake Erie hoping to find something worth shooting. Sometimes if the wind comes strong from the east the ice will...
I have been a long term Fuji user for almost a decade but this week I picked up a cheap Sony A7, with a view to borrowing a Canon 24mm T/S lens on it.
Research suggested that the Sigma MC-11 would be a good convertor to use it with (due to good interior anti-reflective material) so I grabbed...
Just getting to know my A7CR. Currently, I have the center point as a registered AF area. I like having an option to quickly get the point back in the center.
What I don't like is that I can't then change the focus area, it keeps giving me a message saying "invalid while recalling...."...
Just FYI - As a lot of you may already know, I've been experimenting with some vintage early 2000 digital cameras. 2 of which are Sony (F828 and R1) and they both came with Memory Stick cards.
I tried connecting up the camera itself to the computer to download the images - but had no luck. I...
Picked up off eBay for a little bit of nothing!

It feels well build. The plastic is there, but pretty solid except for some movement around the battery and card doors.
It's a good size, not too big, or too small, great grip on it.
Not a huge fan of where the rear command dial is...
So, the O-M1 is the first m4/3 camera I've bought that I'm not enjoying. It's a fine camera, images are good. I got some lovely images on my trip to Greece. I'm just not enjoying using it.
What to get in its place? I don't think I'll go down the Nikon road again. The Z7II was great as was...

I'm really liking this lens. The focal range is less wide but a little longer. Not remarkable on it's own but add it's size, price, performance and it's a winner in my book. The first samples are from American Honda Motor's Cars, Bikes and Coffee Event this morning in Torrance, CA. Oh and I did...
This kind of thing really grinds my gizzard. It's going to become normal across brands. I was going to get an A1 in the next month or so, now I think I'll hold off.
Sony Electronics Announces Custom Gridline License Available for Alpha Camera Bodies for $149!!! ā sonyalpharumors
Right now, US buyers can get a Sony A7R IIIa and A Tamron 28-200 for $2700. That's a heck of an entry into FF for under $3k, with what is one of the best sensors Sony ever made.
Want cheaper yet? Sony A7III and 28-70 kit lens for $1700.
Still not cheap enough? Sony A7II and 28-70 for $998.
Crazy.

This Monster LA-FE2 adapter looks super interesting! You can now get AF with older screw drive Nikon lenses. This would be perfect for some of those older Nikon screw drive prime lenses!
Now Nikon has no excuse to make their own version!
This is a pretty decent video, kind of long at almost 1/2 hour but some very interesting results, including the A7R V in crop mode compared to the others. I'm not familiar with this reviewer but then I don't watch many of them, maybe some of you know who he is.
The A7S III is kind of irrelevant...
Not that Iām dropping $6K on a new camera, but it looks like we have a practical global shutter. 120 fps, 1/80,000 max SS, and flash sync at any speed. I need none of these šbut itās interesting to see a new tech becoming real. I wonder how fast and how widely this will percolate through the...
In town (London) for the pro Palestine protest to see what I could get out of it using this camera/lens combo. Pleased with the outcome. I just take pictures, so I make no comment of the politics other than to say "There are people and there is politics". Unfortunately, the ones who get hurt...
More nightclub shots from Electrowerkz in Islington North London. The first 4 are real people but backgrounds and a couple of bits (like the web) were added in PS Generative Fill. It's quite good fun....addictive actually! Nice bunch of people there. 3 floors of boom boom boom music and...
First one says something big November 8:

Second one says Sony has registered 2 pro level cameras in China. Timing based on previous releases is on track for the A9III...
Which is probably not news given my propensity for cheap and that I only use primes when needed. My selection consists of a Samyang 24/1.8 and 35/1.4, Minolta 50/1.7 and 85/1.4 A-mounts, and a Rokinon 135/1.8.
Sonys supposedly focus faster, and the crippling of 3rd party lenses to 15FPS is...
Is this the flare problem I've read about with Sony cameras and 'wide' angle lenses?
Thing is, it happened when using my 50mm too, not just the 35mm, but to a lessor extent.
I'm trying to replicate a label shot for a box for my latest train locomotive acquisition.
I'm working on getting the 'shot' portion of the label.
Here is a really bad photo crop of what I'm trying to make for my box which is missing the flap that would have the label on it from the factory...
Hello. I am hoping and trying to get back to drawing after taking a 4 year hiatus in the next couple of months. Typically it takes me 100 to 300 hours to do one drawing because I OCD hard on ultra realism from shading and the tiniest details possible and because I draw on very large paper, A3+...

I remember when this lens was announced thinking it would be nice to have the extra 50mm below the standard 100-400 lenses. I didn't think about it much more until a few weeks ago when I started wishing for that added 50mm while shooting and rediscovered it while window shopping.
It's shaping...

I've been having some fun with panning shots at the track. In order to pan I need something between 50-70mm. Right now I have to switch cameras to the 24-105, then go back to the 100-400 for the coming at you shots. The added 50mm at the short end will be a nice convenience and eliminate camera...

I'm fortunate in that I have more cameras than I rightfully should have or need.(Yes, there's that word 'need' again, @Brownie)

I have it only for one day so these are initial observations. The threasld can be used as a showcase for the lens as well (I was surprised there wasn't one open give how old the lens is).
Very beautiful rendition of the background at minimum focus. A very mild swirly bokeh at the edges (less...
