Historic Photos From the NYC Municipal Archives

For those of us who know this city it's especially fascinating, I think. My father was born in 1910 and my mother in 1917. Both sets of grandparents were from Manhattan or Brooklyn, as were my parents.

These photographs are astounding. I've just about fallen over looking at

- what a truly amazingly beautiful image.
 
No. 41 shows the SS Normandie, once considered the best ocean liner to ever sail. Evidently it was commandeered for troop movements and burned in drydock during its refitting in 1942...
