Weird 1st question as my 1st question but can the shutter speed for stills be set at 1/250 while maintaining a nice 1/60 for video so that while shooting a sporting event, the video will be nice and fluid while the shutter speed at 1/250 will reduce the motion blur alot in the stills

The number of frames per second will dictate the longest shutter speed available but it may be shorter. If shooting PAL (which I think is 25 frames per second), I can have up to 1/30s but depending on my shooting mode, I can set it to less, e.g. 1/250s in Manual or Shutter Priority. Also, the camera will choose a shorter period on program and iauto modes etc when needed. Note that some cameras only support fully auto shooting in movie mode.
