Ruth: Mother of the "Prodigal Son"

Ruth had a son who took off and she didn't hear from him for years. Finally, after much prayer, he has returned and been in contact with his mother again. Even when she had no news of him for years, she never gave up on him.

Ruth is in a nursing home with severe and crippling arthritis -- particular in her knees and she is in a wheelchair these days.

Ruth voluntarily sat for this portrait and gave me permission to tell her story. I see Ruth at a nursing home where I am a part time chaplain.

Thanks, John for a wonderful photo and inspiring story. You captured a lot of character. Great composition too. As Livnius said, there might be more to the story, but it is wonderful that they found each other again.
And it must be comforting for Ruth to meet with you and talk about her life. Thanks for doing such good work.
Peter
