Panasonic Re-Evaluation: DMC-FZ100

After seeing what Jock and Barrie are doing with their later models, I've gone back and renewed my interest in the super zoom category generally, and in my FZ100 particularly (because I can't afford to buy another... yet)

Here are some old, some new, Tom's there, cropped and not monochromes. Really, I do like not having to futz about with lenses (which is why I'm considering the 10-100 for my V1).

Here we go... a mix, to be sure, and I've kept the longest side in here to about 800 or so, in the interests of reducing bandwidth for those who wish to look but not necessarily at the larger version (which is only 1024, in any case).

Wow, nothing wrong with that camera. Very nice pix!

Cheers, Jock

Thanks, Jock. I think its fine but just not for really low light. As long as there is a good light source, any of these are good. I'm currently considering the Fuji SL1000, its 50x and it has a 920k EVF which is a big selling point for me. I find with my Panny, the EVF is pretty useless at 204k dots, and I just shoot with the LCD screen... there are times a good EVF is worth a LOT. the Fuji isnt expensive, about $300 less than the FZ200 out here... anyway, its a way off yet. I'm enjoying yours and Barrie's shots, it keeps me interested in superzoom bridge cameras.

Some lovely shots here. The colours in the third are beautiful and I do like the boats and their reflections.

Thanks, Nic... Those two are my favourites of this bunch, also. I almost invariably use the "Vivid" setting when I have had a Panasonic camera (did the same with my TZ7 when I had that) because the standard just looks flat to me. These colours are accurate, pretty much, but still needed a bit of a boost in post.
