That focal length seems a touch long for me, but since it would be a second camera, I'm wondering if it might be a better complement to my RX1 than a DP2 would be. So let's see what it can do. I'd also be interested in using it for semi-macro shots.

Luke, here's a few recent photographs with my DP3M in what you might call "semi macro" mode.

As I recall there has been little or no cropping of these images. Like others the final post processing is done in another editor. Non the less I've developed a certain affinity with Sigma Photo Pro, I know it has come in for criticism from some quarters, but perhaps it's general simplicity or it's slightly off beat nature appeals to my own "out of step with my fellow man" nature.

Of my three Merrills the DP3M probably been the least used, however that's a reflection of the slightly more specialist nature of the focal length than anything about the camera, and if I were to get a "plant type" image phase that would benefit from the macro capabilities then no doubt it would get much more use, as it also would if I were interested in portraiture given that it's focal length equates to the oft quoted ideal for such work.

The DP3 is probably the camera I've ever had that has impressed me the most. The lens/sensor combination is pure magic, and I find the controls very easy to get used to.

That sums up my view entirely.
It's for those special moments from very close up through portrait to landscape.

The problem with the DP3M is every time you shoot flowers you get WOW! shots. The world does not need more flower shots but I just can't resist...

I was hoping that by posting this thread request for images, someone would be seduced by the camera and buy one and then get frustrated by it's "limitations" and list it for sale here at a great loss. Looks like I'll need to wait a little longer. :popcorm2:

With the RX1 I`d complete the bag with a DP1 & Ricoh wide angle adapter plus the DP3. The DP3 is a brilliant camera.

BTW, the wide angle adapter for the GR is excellent. It adds a small amount of barrel distortion which mostly you won't notice and if you do it can be corrected with distortion controls in LR.

No such luck. In the UK (at least) you can now pick up a brand new DP3M for around USD 500 (GBP 339). I bought mine during the 'buy another for half-price' offer for existing users a while back (I think it cost me GBP 400).

Even when I have toyed with selling my DPxM's (a dumb thought that quickly passes) the resale value is now so ridiculous it ain't worth it.

I'd be interested to know if they are also being heavily discounted in the USA - maybe we are the lucky one here in the UK?

Currently they're selling for between $550 and $650 for the three Merrill models. I bought all three used for about $500 each including some extra batteries, chargers, grips and so forth.
I love all three of them for what they are and envision keeping them for as long as batteries are available.
