Many mornings I enjoy somef oatmeal with lots of cinnamon, a bit of agave nectar (a sweetener), a handful of walnuts, and a diced apple.

This morning, having completed the Tour de Basement on the exercise bike, I microwaved the oatmeal while dicing the apple, The buzzer went off, and I reached without looking into the cabinet to grab the cinnamon. The 5th Season spice company offers many different spices, all in identical bottles with the exception of the label. Fortunately, I enjoy the scent of the cinnamon before I sprinkle it on the oatmeal . . .

I pop the top, inhale deeply . . . chili powder! Yee-haw! That was close. Next time, I will read the label.

If any of the denizens here have actually eaten oatmeal with chili powder on it, it's probably worth telling.

    Cheers, Jock

reminds me a wedding I was at where my little brother (just passed aged 21) reached for what he thought was container of ranch dressing. He looked at it kind of strangely as he poured it (seems kinda runny he was probably thinking, but he had consumed a few drinks). He continued a conversation as he ate his salad. My uncle and I were exchanging knowing grins.

Then my grandma reached for the same pourer and added some milk to her coffee while my brother was not looking. When he finished his salad, I asked him how he liked it. With a slight slur to his speech, he said it was the worst ranch dressing he had ever tasted. He said he was going for another drink and my uncle said that he thought it would be a better idea if they both went out and got some fresh air. I think I have a photo of it somewhere. I should look for it, because he denies that story to this very day, but my uncle can back me up.

my Dad popped a fortune cookie in his mouth, while he was chewing it my mom asked him what his fortune was. He looked confused for a moment, and then pulled a piece of paper out of his mouth and finished chewing.

(Ok, this next part I just made up) the fortune read "you will be surprised by the commonplace today"

First time I ate sushi, I ordered a roll with avocado in it. Several minutes later, a roll appears on my plate, with some green condiment next to it. 'How wonderful!' I thought, 'the Japanese know guacamole as well! I love guacamole!'. Giving the roll a good covering of "guacamole", I take a healthy bite, which introduces me to that particular kind of panic only a wasabi overdose provides...

Luke, I have a true story to complement yours.

Brother of my wife, after a few drinks, put the whole fortune cookie in his mouth. When they warned him what he was doing, he tried to remedy the situation and pulled the paper out. On it was written:

The most important thing in life is...

The rest went down the drain already :)

My father once accidentally started to brush his teeth with Ben-Gay instead of toothpaste, having confused the two similar tin tubes. The rest of the house heard about it very quickly.

Bartjeej, you are not alone. I know someone who once dipped a chip into a bowl of wasabi at a buffet, thinking it was guacamole, and swallowed it. I don't believe that they will ever make that mistake again.
