    Greetings,

I see a lot of names from the MU-43 forum over here as well and that's great since I love that place. I soured on forums some years ago but these have been a revelation so I've decided to venture into the waters again.

I just ordered a Panasonic DMC-LX7 despite having two micro four thirds bodies and a ton of primes. I wanted something high quality, easily controlled, with enough image quality to satisfy me for anything less than my art photography. I really like the things I've seen about the little Panasonic so having found one of those occasional sales that pop up for $300 I jumped at one and it's on the way.

Reading and seeing things over here on this forum helped cement my decision to make this my "walkabout".

Thanks and nice to meet you all.

Well, welcome aboard and good luck with your LX7. Do you, by any chance, have a GX1 with the optional EVF? The viewfinder will work on the LX7.

No, I don't -- in fact that was tipping me towards a used XZ-1 so I could use the VF-2 I have for my E-PL5. But, I'll limp along with the screen on the LX7 for now.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks much! I was looking for the "Thanks" button but this forum version doesn't have it unless I'm missing it -- so, thanks!

EDIT: NEVERMIND! I FOUND IT! lol

Well, tracking says it will be here tomorrow and I'll do some experiments with it around the steel mill and see how it does with some industrial photos hopefully this week unless work gets crazy. We'll see. I don't get paid to take pictures, lol.

Thanks for the welcome and comments everyone -- much appreciated.

    Hi John,

I've done a couple of threads on the LX7 - it's a great little camera for almost anything. I do more street shooting and less landscape than you do - your work is VERY impressive! I'm just up the road in West Chester too, so if you ever want to compare notes. I'm into m43 also, as well as a Fuji X-Pro setup.

Oh my gosh, Ray! That's great!

I'd love to go shooting sometime. I go to Longwood Gardens a lot just to keep sharp with the camera -- not that I necessarily need to photograph anything there anymore, lol. At least let's do a lunch or coffee or something.

I would love to see the Fuji gear in person. I've never actually seen on in person.

Thanks for your comments! I need to get out and visit other's sites and absorb some of their work but I am often too self-involved (and busy too, lol) for my own good.

I did read your article that's highlighted here comparing the various compact models and it was very informative and helpful in making my decision so thanks!

Lunch or coffee sounds good. I joined Longwood for a year once but I think I shot everything I could and never re-upped. Love the topiary garden though... I'll PM you in a few days once a few local health issues calm down a little bit. I have an X-Pro with three lenses I could show you and a bunch of m43 gear, but you sound pretty up to speed in m43.

Here's another LX7 specific post I did in January with more LX7 specific images from Baltimore.

I thought I put up some other stuff from Wilmington too, but can't find it at the moment.

No worries! Lightroom has helped me organize my work IF I take the time to keyword it. I've done MUCH of it but not all so occasionally I still can't find things.

We're certainly not in any hurry and the weather will only get better. Hope you feel better soon!

I actually sold a picture to Longwood for their membership cards. They have a new "Signature" memberships for their high-rollers and the $500/yr one is called "Chimes Tower" and one of my photos is on it. I was thrilled since they have a veritable herd of volunteer photographers and they didn't get a shot they wanted to use.

Congrats on the impending LX7! I've had mine for 2 weeks now, since I found I could use my LX5's WA adapter on it via the Kiwi tube.

I hope you enjoy your LX7 as much as I enjoy mine.

Currently, I'm browsing your site and am enjoying every minute of it.

    Thanks again for the welcomes!

Wife tells me box arrived at home so I get to unbox it and play a bit tonight with it.

I'm strangely excited considering the micro four thirds gear I already have. I guess I just like new cameras, lol. But seriously, I'm looking forward to a single small carry around instead of my little bag of gear for some things.

Got the camera and am already impressed. I shot some ISO 80 stuff and this thing looks as good as my old D200 did at base ISO. Very nice.

You can't push it too far but that's not what I have it for. Took a few test shots and like what I'm seeing. I'll be experimenting and when I have anything worth showing I'll throw up an image thread somewhere.

This camera feels good to hold, operate and with the sound turned off it's whisper quiet. Fantastic.
