A big caveat, Alan was testing how the progs handle night-sky images (stacking and timelapse) so his recommendations may not apply to you but he lists pros and cons and you can still glean quite a bit from his article. Makes interesting reading.

Very useful comparison. I don't do a lot of night sky photography, but noise reduction, clarity, and color adjustments is pretty much all I do to an image.
