Format could be Prompts like last time, or something new?

It could run from September 17 to October 17 to help distract from some of the Photokina-marketing...

    Anyone else interested?

    What's "Prompts"?

Also, I like the idea of Photokina distractions

We did a May Prompts challenge, Luke's baby, where basically everyone that signed up was able to submit a Prompt. For example, mine was "conspicuous absence of people." The first 30 prompts (I think) were locked in and then everyone had a month to try to complete them all. Kind of more of a scavenger hunt, rather than a strict one photo per day challenge. You could, for example, do nothing during a busy week and then go out and shoot a handful over the weekend. It was fun and there were some great submissions.

I'm interested, but prompts in May didn't feel as good to me as Single in January felt. I like the free form PAD better.

sounds good Kyle....maybe an idea that is less specific, but still forces us to get out and shoot. The more restrictive it gets in regards to subject matter, the less people are inclined to join in.

Would something as vague as posting an original shot every day be enough? I'm not talking about raiding the vaults for old photos, but each day one awakes and has to shoot a shot...ANY shot and post before the day is out.

We could have a thread for each day. I could "lock" a thread 2 days after the day completes to keep from flooding the 'recent discussions' with these PAD threads.

any suggestions for or against or fine tuning anyone would suggest?

I see, so you focus on fulfilling the list of 30 items in a month. Interesting. I'm armed with my RX100 and ready!!!

I like the idea of being more free form, marlof and luke, especially if it would encourage participation!

My only hesitation on a daily challenge, personally, is that my work schedule/locations makes it difficult to get anything interesting on a lot of weekdays. There are only so many photo opportunities where I spend my daylight hours and it is starting to get darker, early here! On the other hand, maybe that would really force the creative process!

    May I make a suggestion?

I'd love for the images to speak for themselves, by which I mean no one makes a statement about, or asks a question about, the hardware (or software) used ...

Sounds like a great idea (especially as a distraction for Photokina and new camera ship dates, reviews, initial impressions, etc.)

One could play along and skip days. Of course, some will always step back from the challenge. And with the high ISO of modern cameras running out of light is NOT an excuse. Surely with all those cameras of yours one of them may even have a flash. Have you no tripod in your kit?

FWIW, I also like Paul's anti-GAS medication suggestion. Images are the most important thing.

I like the idea of posting to a thread rather than uploading to the gallery. Locked down threads to avoid them getting too big is sensible.

The thing I wonder about thread monitoring and locking is whether it'll wear out Luke's cape

    Luke's cape is unflappable.

Locking threads is easy......makes viewing the images easy (as well as putting them in front of everyone's eyes) and keeps Amin from needing to create a new gallery.

I am for only one photo a day, not more than one, I like what pdh said, no tech talk - just enjoy [well dones okay], and if you want to add some structure, some photographic techniques without limiting subject matter, ex [close-up, wide angle, movement etc..]. Precise topic matter made some who didn't have time to do such specific searches drop out and more than one a day was really daunting. But I'm good to go for this..

I do have a reservation about a daily post regime as I'm using so much film these days.

On the other hand I could simply get a LF camera and a £30000 drum scanner

Well not necessarily a post a day but no more than one photo expected for the given number of days type thing, I should have clarified my own words. I just don't want to do more photos than the allotted number of days again :)

But if you need that.. do feel free to use the excuse LOL

I like the idea of 30 images, though not one required every day.

Hmmmm.... Not sure I like the no chatter idea. No gear talk maybe, but feedback is good. It brings the thread to life, rather than making it feel like a dusty museum, and leaves you wondering if anyone is looking, or if we are all just posting and not looking at each others work.
