I haven't had much time recently to pick up the camera/s, what with work and other stuff getting in the way. :)

My other love in life (beside the wife & kids) is music and hi fi. I've found taking pictures of hi fi very challenging, but mucked around with my NEX 5N & Fuji X-100 after installing a new cartridge on my turntables tonearm. I thought they looked better in B&W. :) One from each camera here.

I love hi-fi shots......nice. Your cartridge looks like it costs more than some people's entire stereos.

Loving that second image. The depth of field and toning and spot-on!

At home, I preferred the second shot, but at work (and surrounded by records) I prefer the first. Both of them are great.

Thanks all. I try and capture a mood when taking shots of my hi fi, and thought these pics were best served in B&W.

    Nah. :)
It's a Garrott P87 MC, that dates back to the late eighties. But it did sell for around $1200 back then. I picked it up cheap on ebay, and it still has plenty of life in it.

Of the two I prefer the second image just because of the interplay between all the curving lines. That being said, I love the blue toning of the first image and the faint reflection. It has more of an abstract feel to me, with the subject matter less obvious (at least to me!).

I prefer the first for the transparency, palpable presence and bloom of the ever so important midrange...
