I was back home for a while last month and took the opportunity to visit a few childhood haunts with my brother. These pictures are of the village of Ballywalter in an area known as the Ards Peninsula.

Beautiful photos Olli. So you grew up there? Looks like a nice place! Any more photos to share?

Thanks. I actually grew up in Belfast about 20 miles up the road in the bad old days of riots and bombs so we spent most weekends and a few weeks in the summer months down in this area. My grandparents lived in the village of Ballyhalbert, a few miles further down the road from Ballywalter.

I have a few more from Ballyhalbert and the wonderfully named Portavogie that I'll post in the next day or two.

  5. Always neat to revisit childhood haunts.

My Aunt bought my parents home. A bit strange, but neat to visit.

Lovely, olli - it must have been a great trip and visit. One day, I'd love to go to Ireland.
