So I'm going to a lounge with friends. It's a dim, atmospheric place, with good lounge music, moody lighting, and a casual, relaxed vibe.

Of all the cameras that I own, I'm thinking Pentax K-01 with the FA31 - great in low light, quiet shutter, focus peaking for silent manual focus (without distracting focus noise or focus assist lights), and an understated and stylish look. No bag, just the camera hanging jauntily from my wrist then set casually upon the cocktail table while I order a bourbon.

    What camera would you bring?

RX100 or GR depending on the mood, small, wide, and both ok in low-light.

To take pictures, my X-Pro with 35 or 56mm. To pose, my M2 and collapsible 50mm Elmar-M, loaded with 3200 mono.

The camera you have with you is the best one for a lounge.
If I had one I would use the Minox spy camera.

you should be able to figure it out...
RX1, not even slightly a question about it... Although I guess if there were people about and I wanted to shoot some candid portraits of them, I'd have to bring the DF with the 85mm f1.8... Either would be great...

Of the cameras I own, G12 in low light mode. It does pixel binning to achieve some fairly impressive results in low light.

    Cheers, Jock

I have a Minox B, complete with the "watch chain" with distance beads for close-up document copying. A work of art, but rubbish in low light.

I try not to research cameras - leads to certain GAS LOL! I now buy cameras based on need, not desire. It's working out - I haven't purchased a new camera this whole year.

That's an interesting statement. I think I know what you mean but care to elaborate?

LOL. I might as well bring a pocket protector too!

Funny thing is, only "camera people" have criticized the K-01's looks. I think it is because they have pre-conceptions on what a camera should look like and the K-01 does not abide by them. I've had normal human beings shower it with compliments. Normal human beings think that it is quite fetching, and I agree.

That's a great way to think about it. I only wish that I could bring myself to call my Olympus E-M1 good looking, but I just can't.
