Brilliant BW Photography by a Hong Kong Master

Came across this set of beautiful images on the Wall Street Journal online. I googled the photographer in the credit line and it turns out Ho Fan is a well known photographer, actor, and filmmaker in HK. Gorgeous lighting, timing and composition, and by the looks of the images and the settings, all film.

Wow! I wish I could shoot like that. I was trying so hard to figure out #11 and then when I finally figured out it was a double exposure, I realized there was text to the right of it explaining that. I made my head hurt for nothing. Thanks for sharing these Ed.

Yeah, he (or she?) really feels the light amazingly well. Great compositions. I love the cleverness involved in using the corner of the frame to form an arrow to define the movement of the person walking through the shot...

Good stuff. I'm with Luke on #11 ... I ended up thinking the gray/smaller images were a reflection, that he was shooting through some glass.
