Some pictures of the interior of the church of Santa Maria della Purità in Gallipoli (Italy). It was built in the middle of the seventeenth century in baroque style. The interiors are completely decorated with paintings on panels (not frescoes) and stuccos.

Exif info of the pictures (lost during processing) can be found on the page http://www.milanofotografo.it/englishFotografiaFotogallery.aspx?Categoria=Places,%20cities%20e%20monuments

All pictures are double exposures taken with a Panasonic G2 and separated by 1.5 stops, fused using the algorythm on the page http://www.milanofotografo.it/englishFotografiaHDR.aspx and finally optimized using Faststone.
Other pictures of this church, of Gallipoli and of Salento on the page http://www.milanofotografo.it/englishSvagoCulturaFoto.aspx?NomeCartella=140808GallipoliPanasonic

    Thank you for appreciating!
In reality I belive that the church is beautiful, but also a little bit kitsch. If you compare it to the Church of the Discalced in Lecce (picture in this comment), of same period and of similar size, you see that the second one is much more elegant. Probably it depends from the fact that the first is in a little town, the second one in a city.

There's a lot of responsibility in keeping up the maintenance in those churches, especially paintings or painted items. It's impressive that these venues exist as they do.

I guess you can't just lay down a few new coats of paint.
