Close encounter with a Privet Hawkmoth

    Last nights moth trap catch was a little poor, probably as a result of a cool night, however I did have one Privet Hawkmoth, one of the UK's larger moth species.

    Ooooh pretty!
    Hawk moths are some of the fastest flying insects and some even raise their internal temperature well above ambient through muscle exertion.
