New RX 100, 1st ed., will not focus closer than 18" at times. Other times focus is fine--not enough experience to troubleshoot. Focus problem will occur between shots on the same setting. I'm sure I have missed something but don't know where to start. Have PDF manual if know pg #. Thanks G

Are you shooting at the wide end of the zoom or telephoto?

Thanks for the reply. I am shooting at wide angle macro. I think it is unfamiliarity with the camera that is the problem. When I click the center wheel for focus track, the close focus clears and the image is crystal clear. i will re-read the instructions as I am sure I am the problem, not the camera. Thanks again, Gary.

Try to make sure you have an area of contrast inside the focus area. If the whole focus area is a solid block of color without much contrast, that could cause the camera to fail to focus.

That was exactly the problem--no contrast. Thanks!! I've upgraded from my 10 y/o Canon S80 to the Rx 100. Pretty much dumbstruck at the performance of this cam vs my old one. Glad to find this forum, solved my first problem instantly. Thanks again Gary
