Here's a leftover from my Day One shoot in the park by my house with my compact K-5IIs and a very UN-compact 100-300mm lens.....

Another leftover from yesterday. FX1, mild tweaking in LR. Not the sharpest image I've ever shot but here it be.

Not really golden but very October-ish. Swine of a shot to take, the wind was blowing the roses all over the place but I think the resulting softish effect is quite pleasing. Spot metering on the rose made this agreeably dark overall.

Basking in the sun...... he had to move eventually as he got too hot! There are no really Autumnal colours in our garden yet.......

This is a work in progress. Should be ready in time for Christmas.

On the second day of October, and for the second day in a row, I saw a family of turkeys roaming the neighborhood as I biked my daughter to school.

I don't think I've ever seen a live turkey! Are they deadly?

No.... they're just like bigger wild chickens. I like 'em with stuffing and a little gravy.

Not "deadly" but they can get aggressive. A friend in town was cornered by some but he got away. These guys will walk right up to me when I stop, checking me out and clucking. They're like chickens, yes, but 3 feet tall, with spurs on the back of their legs, and a lot more confidence. I love seeing them around, but I'm a little wary with my daughter on the back of the bike. If they decided to get uppity, I might lose balance and drop her.

    Not gold, but colorful.
I like what Topaz Adjust does for colors and detail, but I obviously haven't mastered noise reduction/smoothing things out!

Flor came to The Netherlands from Spain, where she roamed the streets. She is very insecure, but feels more and more at home here. In the beginning when you approached her she was initially extremely scared. Things are slowly improving 'though. This is the first time she didn't run away when I tried to catch her in a picture from nearby. And yes, she is very friendly.
